I agree that the song seems to be overhype by those who are writing the US articles!

At the same time I wouldn't say it's a minimal return, as it is gaining similar streams from USA as from UK, we just don't see those! There was also an article stating she has 2.8m USA listeners compared to 2.2m UK's. That means it has its market and contributes a lot to Kylie's tally on streaming! And being a minor hit on the radio should help her album sales outside of typical Townsend's figures hopefully.

Love that a 2024 Kylie release has achieved that - in the streaming era I never thought we’d see that in the UK or US.

It was definitely something I'll never forget/never quite believe was actually real!

^^ Totally, don’t get me wrong what PP is achieving stateside is incredible it just feels as though the press are writing it up as a multi platinum hit

I’m expecting a Top 15 at least for ‘Tension’ - maybe higher if she throws all the promo at it.

I think people who dont follow the charts may believe padam padam is much bigger in the US than it it, the press have made it look that way which im not complaining about, but as fans of Kylie and people who follow the charts i for one wont lie and was hoping chart wise it would have done better over there at this stage as she really has promoted there.

Day 89 and Padam Padam still 39th on the Worldwide itunes

Let's hope it stays top 100 for its 100th day

Agree! I even wonder how if it’ll chart at all given it was primed as summertime anthem and Usa is kind of gearing up now for autumn (back to school, etc etc)

I’m missing the mayhem of daily updates, constantly checking streaming charts and iTunes etc

Hopefully single 2 can bring us at least a week or 2 of excitement!

So Padam Padam doing anything from 70-90k a day on Spotify streaming in UK. Would love to get it off ACR on release week of Tension.

Kylie saying goodbye to Padam, yessss. Let's go Tension!
Padam Padam still getting 500k+ worldwide streams per day on Spotify so across all platforms maybe 1,000,000 streams a day still. Just fantastic
I hope they go all out for Tension (single) and get a big feature, since they didn’t do 1 for Padam.

Why? Kylie doesn't need it and big features doesn't tend to sell albums (which is what BMG is ultimately interested in).

I wouldn't like some tacked on feature on a song for the sake of it...

I don’t really understand your logic. A hit single = more traffic to an album, Padam being a hit has raised Kylie’s profile to its highest in years, another hit will just continue to help Kylie shift tickets for Vegas/Tension tour.

Album “sales” are a thing of the past, sales will peak week 1.

Tension is a great song and the original will be on the album anyway, a feature would just help attracting streams and campaign longevity, which is what BMG should be focussing on. Every other act on BMG (expect Kylie) spends 1 week on the album chart and is never heard of again, it’s not a great strategy to focus everything on week 1.

Album sales are for a lot of artists a one week wonder but in the current changing climate Kylie has been able to hold her own in the UK at least -

Golden: 1-4-6-10-13-13…

SBIT: 1-2-4-12-18-21…

Disco: 1-5-10-7-19-19…

They should plan physicals for weeks 1, 3 and 5 for Tension.

A two cassette bundle with different artwork for one of the weeks, and a good pre-order window for the first week (released on the Friday, not the Wednesday of course)
