February 6, 20232 yr Oh this album is a triumph! What a statement against the corruption patriarchy that exists behind the scenes in the music business. So much to say and she does it brilliantly! I'm super impressed. It gives me Dirty Computer vibes which is naturally a huge compliment
February 6, 20232 yr Album at #2 rn, i know she'll be happy with that and so will i, but i really hope she can get the #1! Also awesome to see Ice Cream Man. in the top 100 too! hope it can climb!
February 6, 20232 yr @1622656685285249024 Perrie and Leigh-Anne are also asking fans to buy the album! @1622678962940833792 @1622685062050287622
February 7, 20232 yr I wasn’t aware of what Raye had been through before becoming independent. Hopefully she can clinch this.
February 7, 20232 yr Love this album, shame it’s not heading for the top. Environmental Anxiety, Ice Cream Man and Escapism are my top favourites but Oscar Winning Tears, Worth It, Buss It Down and Hard Out Here are all great too. The lyrics and production are so refreshing, record labels need to be less controlling and more open minded. Polydor are idiots for letting her slip through their fingers.
February 7, 20232 yr I'm meeting Raye later today at her signing, cannot wait to meet her and see her perform!
February 7, 20232 yr I currently have £16.50... so glad for the price drop so i can get the cd this week and add a sale or i'd have to wait! I think #2 will be an incredible result for a debut but its such an incredible album so i really really hope it can scrape the #1
February 7, 20232 yr OMG SO I MET HER!!! She is one of the nicest people EVERRRRR! She is so insanely sweet and took her time with everybody. I got lots of hugs, laughs and it was just so nice, such a great experience. Also, oh my god, I didn't realise just how incredible live she is?! Just wowwww. She only performed four songs but they were great, Ice Cream Man in particular was very emotional. She performed: Thrill Is Gone. Oscar Winning Tears. Ice Cream Man. Escapism. Yobnedor, she performed at the HMV Vault in Birmingham, there were SOOOOO many people there. I'm too shy to post my M&G photo here, but her team took lots of photos, so I had many options! I really like them!
February 7, 20232 yr OMGGGG that sounds amazingggggg!! Im so happy for you it sounds incred! 3 out of those 4 are my top songs on the album! Its great to hear shes amazing live, making me even more excited for march when i'm seeing her at the roundhouse!
February 7, 20232 yr Thank you guys :heart-old: Raye well exceeded my expectations, definitely made me want to see her live again! Unfortunately her Birmingham date is on the same day I see Madonna in London. I think you wouldn't have been able to meet her if you showed up, it was sold out a few weeks ago and they were quite strict about who they let in!
February 7, 20232 yr I wonder if it’s improved much since I was last down there for JLS. It was like a zoo!
February 8, 20232 yr Today's mids 1 Shania Twain - Queen of Me (13,642) [12,178 physicals, 480 streams] * 2 RAYE - My 21st Century Blues (10,176) [5,981 physicals, 2,362 streams] *
February 8, 20232 yr i think she'll end at #2 but i bought a cd to add an extra sale anyways! Still a brilliant achievement though i hope she can somehow manage the top
February 8, 20232 yr I agree that she'll likely end up at #2, which I'm fine with as it isn't like she's sold enough to be #1 many other weeks. Hopefully the album doesn't drop as heavily as most these days and she manages to get a streaming hit with it.

February 8, 20232 yr Slayer I didn't realise you were going too! I was there, she was so lovely wasn't she! OMG you were there too?! If only we knew what each other looked like to say hey :lol; She was super sweet and just came across so genuine! Where about were you when she was performing?
February 8, 20232 yr Really loving this album! Despite loving Shhh from when it was entered in BJSC, I’ve kinda always not been too bothered about Raye’s music (although there are some bangers such Natalie Don’t and of course You Don’t Know Me). I became invested after the label troubles and was rooting for her to do well, even if the music wasn’t going to be my thing. I really loved the Disclosure song but it was Black Mascara that really stood out for me. I listened to the album out of curiosity after The Thrill is Gone also started hitting me and I’m impressed at how much it displays Raye as an artist in her own right after it sadly looked like she was destined to be a dance-pop vocalist. It’s a lot more along the lines of what I expected after I’d heard Shhh and it’s just sad that labels often drain away artist’s individuality so that they can play it safe. I’m really pleased she felt comfortable again to move away from the dance-pop as I think this album carves such a huge line in the sand (in many ways) and it displays so much potential for the future.
