I agree with him though there isn't an artist in the world releasing music hoping no one will like it or buy it, everyone wants success and there is nothing wrong admitting it.

Ed is lucky as he has had so much success he can release less commercial music and not overly worry about how it does but equally I'm sure he wants it to be as successful as possible.

Well, of course artists want to be successful. What he doesn’t get is that they’re not all as obsessed with it as he is and not all will sell out their artistic integrity for it.

 

I guess what I mean is, they want people to like the music they’re making, they don’t just want what people like to dictate their music.

Plus if it was easy to have success with "cheesy" music, everyone would be doing it.
