Gah I don't like it. I really enjoyed Lewis' promo clip of him singing it and hoped it would be the same. Fingers crossed for an acoustic with a bit more raw emotion to it

How is it? I'm travelling and cannot listen

Read some comments it's like Perfect part 2?

I am not a sucker for love ballads nor I am an Ed Shereen fan but Perfect’s melody is warm, cosy and fairytale-like and the lyrics flow seamlessly to the end. It’s cute and mushy in a good way and the music video is adorable.

Pointless reminds me of an insecure love who does things for their partner in return for validation otherwise their life isn’t worth it (“I take her to fancy restaurants, she takes the sadness out of me”). It’s not meant to be that way because it’s a love song but Lewis vocal delivery makes it sound dreary instead of warm and romantic. I listened to both songs yesterday and preferred the first a lot more.

His best song by a country mile, this will be huge.

Edit...just seen its a Steve Mac song, the quality makes sense now.

Edited by Sean.

I quite like this. More instant than Forget Me. It’s got a bit of a Christmas vibe similar to Perfect so can see it doing very well.
It sounds nothing like Perfect and there would be no comparisons made to that song if Lewis hadn't said it was a collab with Ed all the time.

It sounds like a love letter written by a 5-year-old

one thing I liked about Lewis is that I saw him as someone writing his own songs

so pretty disappointed he's now getting song from Steve Mac/Ed Sheeran

a real proper singer-songwriter wouldn't do that, thought he was but guess not

Pretty much all the songs on his debut album has 1/2 co-writers.

My dog also takes me as I am, when I bring him water when he's thirsty.

Please hope this isn't the Christmas #1. All of his songs have the unique taste of sounding dreary.

Lewis told The Sun he ‘pilfered the heartfelt ballad’s opening lyric from pal Ed Sheeran’ “I bring her coffee in the morning, she brings me inner peace” — who had come up with the line in an earlier songwriting session.

Maybe that is the extent of the “co-write”

I like this on first listen.

I'm pleased he didn't go for a piano ballad for the lead single, but it makes sense that he would for the follow-up released at Christmas.

It is very Ed-Sheeran-by-numbers though, but not sure that's a bad thing in my book.

I can't escape from Mr Lewis Capaldi today. First it was sponsored ads on Twitter, then his million stories on Instagram and now it's YouTube ads interrupting my videos.

As with many of his songs, I like his voice when it's more restrained on the verses but as soon as he goes full pelt on the chorus, I struggle with it.
