To be fair that’s not too difficult with Now 111’s first week sales being just 14,197!

That was just poor sales for NOW 111

none of the performances wowed me, but some were decent. Harry was a good opener, lizzo brought the good vibes, cat burns and lewis brought the emotions with some lovely renditions of their songs! skipping over stormzy and especially wet leg as both were boring, and the guetta one was a good close. remember/ CWLCD are both bops. Sam ryder also put on a good performance and props to him for singing i'm good in the original key but he did struggle w the chorus oop. maybe a lower key would've been better.

Not a golden year for me performers wise.

FLO really would’ve benefited so much from a performance as well but the whole ceremony was just missing something for me

Maybe I’m “getting old” but yeah

I will say I’m glad Harry did get his awards though. As far as British males go at least he gives something so a deserving most awarded act of the night for sure.

Hopefully next years ceremony is a bit more exciting though.

About Damn Time is kind of lame as a song imo, and I love Lizzo! Break My Soul was something different for Beyonce and definetly was huge!
Mo Gilligan must have an amazing agent.

He felt really flat this time around. The guest interactions were terribly awkward and his side jokes did not land at all.

Wet Leg seem like one of those industry darlings that the BBC plays all the time, are huge for one album because the critics hypes it to hell, gets all the awards like they are jelly beans then in 2025 everyone goes "god, remember Wet Leg? They are gonna be hoping the whole 'ironic innuendo' stuff stays cool because it does not make for an enduring career. The same people that said Catfish and the Bottlemen were the second coming of the Strokes when they won Best New Artist or whatever it was called back then. There's lots of indie bands on the circuit who deserve success but cannot afford the PR.

Not all Wet Leg's songs are full of innuendos though, it's just their two biggest are. I really like them, plus I do find it funny people are not happy they won but at the same time lambest the lack of representation. They're a lot different to the other indie bands currently around, but I do think them being on an indie label helps them a lot.

Scrapping the male and female artist categories rightly led to a lot of criticism with their shortlist, but either way you can never keep people happy. Harry Styles has just had his likely biggest era he will probably ever have so absolutely no shock he cleaned up. Plus with these awards shows, they need the ratings too, so it kind of works in their favour for a big gun to win.

I used to love this show the only performance I enjoyed was Wet Leg, never heard of their stuff since watching the BRITs performance, now I just bought their album base on their performance, and I hope I won't be disappointed.

I think the awards need to split Pop and R'n'B should be separate, and it seems we have lost the male and female award, now we have a replacement for that with Artist of the Year by clamping it all together.

And I still miss the Outstanding Award to British Music giving credit to artists that have been in the Music Industry for a long time, a lot of artists that are still going on, for instance, Soft Cell, Tears For Fears etc etc, who are only releasing albums these days some recognition wouldn't go amiss.

And finally we need a decent presenter... Mo, does not cut it for me, I would love Roman Kemp to do it. Just needs someone to take it more seriously, not trying to crack jokes all the time, that don't work.

Sam Capaldi

I believe these changes should come into force for the BRITS in 2024:

Introduction of separate Pop & RnB categories

Introduction of more International genre categories, if not a International best new artist award.

Having all three: Artist of the year, Male artist of the year & Female artist of the year.

I think what would be best is having 10 nominations for Best Artist going forward, that way there'd surely be some female rep every year - having both gendered and non-gendered artist categories seems a bit redundant

agreed that they should split Pop and RnB though

Catching up on this, it was a shambles really. It's gone totally to the dogs at this point. I say bring back Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood!

Did you not see Wet Leg’s opening sales last year? They already do have a massive fanbase.

As much as I like her, I’ll be very surprised if Rina ever hits the heights of Wet Leg. Same for Mimi Webb really, I imagine she’ll be forgotten in a couple of years’ time.

Here's hoping! 🙏
