Drake's declining relevancy is kind of fact isn't it? He released two studio albums last year and neither of them went top ten on Year end even in the US let alone UK.

Depends on how you spin it. "Certified Lover Boy" still made the Billboard Year End top 10 2 years in a row. "Her Loss" was released on the first week of the new Billboard year so it was literally impossible for it to make the cut for 2022, but I have to imagine it's a strong top 3 contender already for 2023. "Honestly, Nevermind" is an underperformer but it's not exactly made for his usual demographics so it's not surprising. In any case, across those 3 albums, a lot of people were listening to Drake in 2022 which tends to be more viable than having a slightly more successful album every few years. Can't let people forget you if you're never gone for long

I was referring to "real" Year End, not the bizarre Billboard year end but even then CLB did go top ten, so you're right there. Her Loss might have gone if released earlier in the autumn but it's not streaming super well for his standards beyond Rich Flex which is a hit and #2 on Spotify and AM in the US. Same with Honestly, Nevermind: one song that has sticked with people (Jimmy Cooks) and nothing else - and even that was with 21 Savage so it's actually a proper question if people like 21 Savage more than Drake on these particular tracks.

With that said, he is going to release lots of music in 2023 too so we'll see how it goes.

I think Drake is definitely in decline. He's not as successful as at his peak. But really the same could be said of Justin Bieber, Adele, maybe even Ed Sheeran. They're still successful but they used to be bigger.

but why the sudden re-entry for Drake after the first poor 2 days, did it become viral in tiktok?

Drake is certainly in decline, just look at his albums figures of late

Half of Drake songs go viral on tiktok all the time, wouldn't surprise me if this has gone viral already too
May i just say that it looks like The Weeknd's collab with Gesaffelstein "I Was Never There" from his 2018 EP "My Dear Melancholy" has gone viral. Now at #96 on the spotify top 100! I'm also pushing really hard now to get "Die For You" top 40.
I know there are demographic differences between the DSPs, but it's kind of ridiculous with some of the differences between chart positions for certain songs. How can Lewis be top 10 on Apple and Amazon but only 45 on Spotify? Presumably it's largely due to playlist support?
totally cos of playlist support
Pointless only being #32 on Hot Hits UK means it probably still has quite a lot of room to grow. Once it inevitably gets moved on up there I can see it being a pretty stable top 10 hit

I think the reference to Drake's relevance was just a callback to earlier in the thread when it was said 'We Caa Done' doing less well than 'TWIST & TURN' was a sign of his decreasing relevance. It now has a higher peak than 'TWIST & TURN' so what does that say by the same logic :kink: (the high re-entry of 'We Caa Done' does seem a bit odd though, it doesn't look like it's had a corresponding increase anywhere else - it's actually dropped out of the top 200 in the US (from #100 yesterday) and also fallen in Canada).

I don't doubt that Drake is likely past his biggest eras now (although he's having a cushy 'decline' phase with his last album getting 8 of the US top 10 in its first week and still being a long running top 5/10 album :P) but important context that keeps being forgotten, 'Her Loss' is a collaboration album and they usually don't do as well as solo albums.

Just been binging Ginny & Georgia season 2 and Until I Found You is used quite notably in a couple of episodes, which could explain some of its climb when it's the #1 show on Netflix in the UK!
Really surprised Lionheart never took off. It was one of Joels strongest singles. I thought it would bounce back after christmas

My theory is that it didn't take off as it's is his only genuinely decent song and that puts off his fanbase who like his usual Love Island bland nonsense. It's done ok mind and still may go top 20.
