How can they still be playing at 3am local time? Tennis scheduling is absurd, terrible for spectators and players.

Excellent for the UK, I had it on in the background all day :magic:

The longest match of his career! Two five set epics won in a row!!!

What a sportsman Andy has been over the last 20 years, he's fully deserving of his knighthood.

The question we should be asking now is, can you knight someone twice?

wow wasn't thinking he could pull it off

on the other hand, Jabeur is out after a very disappointing match from her

Norrie is out :o after losing to someone I never ever heard before
Medvedev also out, lost to Korda, who is easily my fav player right now, hope he goes all the way

Andy Murray is out of the Australian Open after eventually losing to Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut in a valiant display where he struggled to move.

Former world number one Murray finished his second-round match at 4am on Friday and, returning to court 39 hours later, was beaten 6-1 6-7 (7-9) 6-3 6-4.

The 35-year-old Scot, who had career-threatening hip surgery in 2019, was the last Briton to fall in the singles.

Earlier on Saturday, Dan Evans lost 6-4 6-2 6-3 to fifth seed Andrey Rublev.

bunch of surprises tonight, unexpected loses by Coco and Swiatek

also Korda beat Hurzack in a very nail-biting game, Korda really deserves to be top 10

very exciting Rublev-Rune game, tie break in the 5th now...

EDIT: Rublev won!

Felt so bad for Rune the way that match ended.

Garcia out, Pegula has to be the favourite now but think I'm here for Rybakina to win a Slam and have the ranking points to show for it

Women's side true to form as always then with the seeds meaning nothing. Shame that the super brat Ostapenko is still in the draw. Would be funny to have a Sabalenka vs Azarenka final.

Surprised it's been the same this year on the men's though although we all know the real #1 should be Novak.

yes, poor Rune :/

Novak the real #1? He's been playing like shit and winning cos of the easy rivals, he hasn't faced the tiniest challenge yet

I'm sure he'd be out if he had encountered Rune, Sinner or Korda

but as per usual he's had the easiest matches, has he even faced anyone top 20?

The real #1 as in he'd have easily won AO last year and probably gone quite deep into US Open. Add that to the fact he didn't get any points for winning Wimbledon then yeah he'd be well clear.

Magda Linette reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final at the age of 30 with a shock defeat of fourth seed Caroline Garcia at the Australian Open.

Poland's Linette, ranked 45th in the world, won 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 against France's Garcia, who became the latest seed to fall in Melbourne.

She had never before progressed past the third round of a major.

Ben Shelton said his Australian Open "has been a dream" after he beat fellow American JJ Wolf in another thrilling five-setter.

Shelton, whose trip to Melbourne is the first time he has left the United States, won 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.

The 20-year-old son of former world number 55 Bryan Shelton is playing in only his second Grand Slam.

The left-hander was ranked 569 in the world last year but has risen to 89.

"It's been a dream so far, it's been a real pleasure playing on John Cain [Arena]," he said.

"Thanks to everyone who came out the last two matches, it's been amazing - you guys are the best."

He faces another American, Tommy Paul, in the last eight. Paul defeated Spanish 24th seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2 4-6 6-2 7-5.

Unseeded Paul is also into his first Grand Slam quarter-final having lost in the second round in his past two visits to Melbourne.
