January 6, 20232 yr As part of Michael Andretti's latest attempt to launch a new F1 team he has announced that Andretti Global will be teaming up with Cadillac to propose a new team entry. Whilst Cadillac is an unusual choice and doesn't have an illustrious history in motor racing they are part of GM who as owners of both Chevrolet and Holden do, even if that doesn't include F1. And they do have a lot of cash and brand recognition globally
January 6, 20232 yr I would be quite up for a new team joining again and an expansion of the grid beyond 20 cars, as long as they can at least become competitive, which this one seems like it should have the backing to do. The additional teams in the 2011-13(?) era just never caught up with the rest of the grid and felt like a waste of time.
January 6, 20232 yr I would like to see more teams on the grid. It would be great to have a 24+ car grid again. The cost cap will make it quite attractive and a lot more cost effective to run a small team than in the previous years. Some speculation over who would supply Caddy to rebadge. Could be Honda or Renault. Honda have ties to GM already and Renault were supposed to be lined up already as the Andretti supplier. Both have been shown to be willing to forego badging rights on their engines
January 30, 20232 yr Audi have confirmed that they have purchased a minority stake in the Sauber team in advance of their entry in to the sport in 2026. Meanwhile, Alfa Romeo will unveil their final F1 car on 7th Feb
January 30, 20232 yr I will be happy if Logan Sargeant somehow manages to snag a single point for USA during the season, though even that is highly unlikely.
January 31, 20232 yr First livery launch of the year! @1620421641196179457 I'm quite digging that one. Shades of the old McLarens in black and white.
January 31, 20232 yr Author Ford’s motorsport boss says it would be remiss of the American car giant not to be considering a Formula 1 return amid the series' rapid growth in the United States. https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/ford-f1s-...ation/10425222/
February 2, 20232 yr Author The FIA has officially announced the opening of its application process for new “entities with a serious intent to enter Formula 1”, to join the grid in the future. Following on from FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem saying a new ‘expressions of interest’ process will take place for prospective new teams to stake their claim to join Formula 1, the governing body has now opened its application window to do so. The FIA say the process for judging applications will involve “thorough due diligence”, including the “technical capabilities and resources of the applicant team, the ability of the team to raise and maintain sufficient funding to allow participation in the Championship at a competitive level and the team’s experience and human resources.”
February 3, 20232 yr They will let up to 2 teams join they said because current Concorde agreement is for 12 teams. But Liberty Media is getting a Veto effectively. I am not sure I like that tbh.
February 3, 20232 yr Renault legend Jean-Pierre Jabouille has died.In 1979 he became the first driver to win in a turbo car and helped change the sport forever
February 3, 20232 yr I saw the news on the Renault/Alpine social media. Really sad. He was instrumental in proving the inherent ability of the yellow teapot and cementing not only Renaults reputation but that of turbo engines entirely in F1. Forever a legend
February 3, 20232 yr Author Jabouille took Renault's maiden win in the 1979 French Grand Prix. His final victory came in Austria in 1980, but his career was ended later that year when he broke a leg in a crash in Canada. RIP Jean-Pierre Jabouille.
February 3, 20232 yr Author Ford are returning to Formula 1 to join forces with Red Bull after more than 22 years out of the sport. The team will part-fund Red Bull's engine from 2026 taking over from Honda. The alliance was announced shortly after Red Bull revealed their new car for the 2023 F1 season at a launch event in New York on Friday. Ford will be back in the paddock for the first time in over 22 years following their departure in 2004. "It's fantastic to be welcoming Ford back into Formula 1 through this partnership," said Christian Horner, Red Bull's team principal and CEO. Ford will work to develop the power unit for Red Bull, as well as their sister team, AlphaTauri, from 2026 to at least 2030. Ford say one of the key reasons behind their return is their "commitment to sustainability" which aligns with F1's pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030 and to introduce sustainable fuels in F1 cars from 2026. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/64509697
