August 3, 20231 yr The World Cycling Championships started today on the track! This'll keep me occupied for the next few weeks as I catch up with it all  Nice to see the UK get gold and bronze in the women's tandem! Hadn't heard of Lizzie Jordan's story before of going into a coma for two months after food poisoning and losing her sight, that's absolutely terrifying but brilliant that she was able to turn it around and get a medal here.
August 13, 20231 yr Author Great Britain's Beth Shriever regained the women's BMX world title at the Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. Olympic champion Shriever led from start to finish to reclaim the rainbow bands she won in 2021. "The crowd were amazing, it is so special," she told BBC Sport. "This means so much, I am speechless." The 2018 winner Laura Smulders was second for the Netherlands, with US rider Alise Willoughby, who won in 2019, crossing the line in third. "These girls are fast and you have to be at the top of your game and can't make mistakes," added Shriever, 24. "I managed to hold my nerve. I
August 15, 20231 yr Author Former British Cycling and Team Sky chief doctor Richard Freeman has been banned from all sport for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Freeman was struck off in 2021 because of misconduct after a hearing by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. During the tribunal process, Freeman was charged with two violations by UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) in December 2020. An independent panel has now found he possessed a prohibited substance and tampered with part of doping control. The ban has been backdated to 22 December 2020, the date of his provisional suspension.
August 25, 20231 yr Vuelta a Espana starting tomorrow! Jonas Vingegaard is on the startlist which will certainly throw the cat in amongst the pigeons.
August 26, 20231 yr Quite the opening stage, with lots of rain and teams finishing in the dark! Well done to DSM for taking the stage - didn't realise they had so many young Brits in their team!
August 29, 20231 yr I've not watched the highlights from today yet, but Evenepoel is in red on Day 3 after a stunning display yesterday! Him crashing at the end was somewhat scary though, that looked like a lot of blood although did seem like he was cleaned up very quickly.
August 31, 20231 yr Lots of drama in today's stage! Sepp Kuss wins and takes two minutes away from the favourites to make him a third (:o) contender for Jumbo, but Lenny Martinez finished only 20ish seconds behind him and ends up in red! Vingegaard and Roglic both took 32 seconds out of Evenepoel as well.
September 4, 20231 yr Rest day number 1 today - Kuss is now in the lead, Soler second and Martinez third, with all the people we actually expected to do well just below them! Let's see how the time trial evens things out tomorrow.
September 5, 20231 yr Filippo Ganna won the Time Trial today - unsurprising given how good he is, but Evenepoel just a handful of seconds behind and flies back up to third behind Kuss and Soler!
September 9, 20231 yr The last two days have been quite something! Yesterday Jumbo-Visma finished Top 3 on the stage, also giving them Top 3 on the GC (Kuss in first, Rooglic second and Vingegaard third) with Evenepoel losing 27 minutes. Then today Evenepoel stunned everyone with a fantastic stage win where he forced the break and then just rode everyone else off his wheel! There's certainly life in this Vuelta yet.
September 15, 20231 yr Some incredible scenes in the Vuelta over the past week! Roglic and Vingegaard riding away from Kuss despite him being both their teammate and the red jersey, and there were no riders with/in front of them was rather interesting - and looks like it generated enough publicity for them to settle for riding for him the day after. Only tomorrow's climbing stage really between Sepp Kuss and the red jersey now!
September 16, 20231 yr Nice to see Poels win today - and finally a nice photo of the three Jumbo-Visma riders crossing the line together! Kuss lookks safe to win the red jersey overall now ^_^
September 18, 20231 yr A pretty exciting final stage, with the expected sprinter winning but from a breakaway that was pretty much caught on the line! And congrats to Sepp Kuss for the overall win.
October 10, 20231 yr Heard last week that Primoz Roglic has signed for Bora - so Jumbo-Visma won't be completely hogging all the talent!
December 8, 20231 yr Author Cyclist Katie Archibald won Scottish female athlete of the year after winning a World Championship gold medal and three European golds this year.
