January 9, 20232 yr Author I listened to Walking Wounded yesterday and it's such a great album, love their mix of folk, indie and a bit of electronic
January 10, 20232 yr Author the album has some electronic elements for sure according to this description: Everything but the Girl return in 2023 with the new album Fuse, after a 24-year hiatus. Written and produced by Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn over the spring-summer of 2021, Fuse is a modern take on the lustrous electronic soul the band first pioneered in the mid-90s. Thorn's affecting and richly textured voice is once again up front in Watt's glimmering landscape of sub-bass, sharp beats, half-lit synths and empty space, and as before, the result is the sound of a band comfortable with being both sonically contemporary, yet agelessly themselves.
January 10, 20232 yr I loved them around their Walking Wounded era. Missing is one of my fave songs ever. Be interesting to hear what they have come up with.
January 10, 20232 yr Author oh here we go she sounds soooo different but of course people's voice changes over time and she's 60 the record has some reverb on the vocals too M6QKZJeK-5w
January 10, 20232 yr Oh wow, yeah she does sound very different from their peak - not necessarily in a bad way. Has she had vocal nodules or something?
January 10, 20232 yr GREAT comeback single! Her voice admittedly does sound different, but still amazing and I'd say recognisable as her if I heard it anywhere without knowing.
January 10, 20232 yr That's really good. Although when you know who it is you can pick out that it's her voice, I don't think I would have guessed it otherwise.
January 10, 20232 yr I like it! And I think it will grow further with repeated plays too so all good here
January 14, 20232 yr why this is in indie? And the thread in dance forum was created in 2022 already.
January 15, 20232 yr Author I just checked Tracy's solo album that she released not so long ago, and she already has this kinda new deeper slightly masculine but still amazing voice, so it didn't happen overnight
January 16, 20232 yr Pleasantly surprised! They still have it! I think her deeper vocal is great why this is in indie? And the thread in dance forum was created in 2022 already. Argeed should be moved/merged with the thread in Dance/Electronic
January 19, 20232 yr Oh wow this is really good! (And sounds surprisingly modern for a band who have been on hiatus for over 2 decades)
February 22, 20232 yr Radio premiere of the second track, Caution To the Wind on Lauren Laverne's Breakfast show on 6Music tomorrow morning Edited February 22, 20232 yr by ManicKangaroo
