Love reading your thoughts and ideas Piers! I think for the fans, a series similar to the one you've outlined would be perfect and give us further insight into what we already know. A film would have a wider reach, although the fact she's wanting to direct it herself does raise some eyebrows. I absolutely want Madonna to be fully involved in the creative process, but she does need the guidance and assistance of people who are credible and know what they're doing.

She choose I Want You - great taste!
Are they only just casting? I swear this feels like it’s been in production for about 7 years now
Tbf it did take several years after being conceived for Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman to be completed so I imagine they're still on track and there has been casting negotiations for some time now. It's not been two years yet since Madonna announced the project.

Julia Garner has been offered the role!

“Inventing Anna” actress Julia Garner has been offered the role of Madonna in a forthcoming biopic about the pop icon, sources familiar with the project told Variety.

Garner has emerged the favorite from over a dozen candidates, one insider added, and has for months been speculated as a frontrunner for the part — a performance Madonna will shepherd herself as director. Garner’s team is considering and expected to accept the offer, said another source.

The film is set up at Universal Pictures, and will follow the early days of the oft-controversial artist and queen of perpetual reinvention. Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Donna Langley won the script in a multi-studio bidding war, and Amy Pascal is attached as a producer.

A production timeline and other principal cast is still unknown. Actors in contention for the role include the previously reported Florence Pugh, “Euphoria” star Alexa Demie, and Odessa Young. Singers including Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira have also been floated. The audition process was reportedly grueling, as the music-heavy production requires a skilled singer and dancer.

Upon announcement, Madonna said she hoped to “convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music.  Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”

Langley praised Madonna as “the ultimate icon, humanitarian, artist and rebel.”

Julia Garner was my top pick in terms of the look and from what I’ve heard about her acting, so I’m very pleased about that choice! Let’s hope she can nail capturing the essence of Madonna too.

I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to rerelease my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation. I’m focused on that and I’ve been writing a screenplay for my film for the last couple of years. The whole thing with “Frozen” was so fun, but I woke up one day and went, “I’m sick of living in the past!” I want to go on tour again, I’m a creature of the stage. That is my happy place.
Oh wow she is great, an absolutely amazing choice! I’m suddenly MUCH more excited for this

Agreed ^

This needs to be epic !!

I think this has been kinda obvious for a while, I remember there being “insider” rumours about it being scrapped last year but Madonna’s not made any sort of reference to it all for ages either.
Yeah I’m not that fussed tbf. I think I was more excited about the thought of it getting Madonna back in the interests of the general public than I was the actual film and it seems the hype surrounding the tour has already started to do that anyway.
