It's 3 weeks on top for Rick and Morty, but it's Tennis that make it lovely - they sound like Aqua circa Turn Back Time to me. New at 2 in tribute to the late great Songwriter/arranger/producer supreme Burt Bacharach is an unreleased performance from 1970 of a live vocal from the legendary Dusty Springfield on Burt's USA one-off showcase, in which he plays piano and she sings his brilliant song a House Is Not A Home. She was hugely nervous about doing it live, and still gave a flawless vocal wiping the floor with anyone else's version, including Glee who did a terrific job with it. It's not on anything anywhere except Youtube, and it's brilliant.

 

Lady Blackbird gets a 2nd top 10 in a row with Woman, and like Burt & Dusty, Pet Shop Boys have a Youtube video out that you can't buy yet - Living In The Past (Home Demo) is a low-key slagging off of Putin. Well, no-one else is musically standing up to do it, so Chris n Neil have. Always quality, and now on 38 years of chart entries with more stuff coming soon. Gorillaz are back at 55, over 20 years of chart action - or 33 years for Damon Albarn.

 

Sadly we lost Trugoy from De La Soul this week, too, I always liked their Daisy Age stuff and found it frustrating that it remained unavailable until a few weeks ago. Eye Know returns at 60, this time with listed credits to the very late Otis Redding who died when I was 10 years old and must be due to fall out of copyright in the next decade or so, but here it's for the whistling bit off Dock Of The Bay. Uncredited still, but not by me, Steely Dan are forming the bedrock of the track and the singing bit. So belated credit to both acts and chart runs of 49 years (all posthumous) for Otis and 50 years for Steely Dan.

 

Sugababes are back using the original name (the original trio touring and having an alias recently with new material) on what I think is a vintage unreleased song (but I may be wrong!) Today being the first track in 13 years to have that name on the track. Finally, Depeche Mode are now down to just 2 members from the fresh-faced group of kids I saw in 1982, and are a very different-sounding proposition from their early stuff - Ghosts Again is typically dark and sombre, but it's lovely to see them carrying on the name and flame. 42 years of chart action here.

Sorry Pearls not grabbing you, it's on Radio 2 as I type this and is sounding pretty uplifting in an old fashioned disco groove sort of way :)

It's certainly been a manic few weeks, this week's is more stuff for my nephew and 2 of my bosses at work leaving. I am literally the only member of staff left from 4 years back from 3 former councils doing Property Records. Long past time for me to go too! :D

 

Having a peaceful social and work life has its attractions, too, though :lol:

 

That Far From saints track is lovely and Radio 2 has C listed it. Hoping they A list it! Theyve A listed Depeche Mode, quite rightly, their best track in 15 years or more I reckon.
