I still haven't voted myself so I will also be helping out Lana #spoilers x

24 ish hours left (probably a bit more than that, will try and make sure I do actually get the next poll up tomorrow this time though) for remaining votes - next week's poll will be considerably less interesting than this one methinks but such is the ebb and flow of the charts.

Voted for my top 3! Evergreen might've scooted up to 4th and been worth a vote if it was 2 or 3 times longer. Getting Kate Nash vibes from Pretty Boys too, though if I wanted to listen to Kate Nash I'd just listen to the actual Kate Nash.

1. Lana Del Rey - A&W

2. beabadoobee - Glue Song

3. SZA - Low

4. Lil Uzi Vert - Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix)

5. Caity Baser - Pretty Boys

6. D-Block Europe - Barbie

7. Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen

8. P!nk - When I Get There

9. Niall Horan - Heaven

10. (Prinz / TRINIX), Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards - Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine)

11. NF - HOPE

listened to all these in full

1 Lana Del Rey - A&W [she snapped and we ascended]

2 beabadoobee - Glue Song [supremely cute, a new staple for everyone's valentines day playlists]

3 SZA - Low

4 Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen [another strange chart appearance, vintage tiktok]

5 Lil Uzi Vert - Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix) [it's no Just Wanna Rock]

6 P!nk - When I Get There

7 Niall Horan - Heaven [the absolute definition of mid]

8 NF - HOPE

9 Prinz / TRINIX), Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards - Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine) [you're welcome...?]

10 D-Block Europe - Barbie [a barbie girl sample really? Ava already did that you're too fucking late]

11 Caity Baser - Pretty Boys [gross song in every way + a fake payola driven "hit"]

The D-Block Europe track doesn’t sample Barbie Girl :???:

true, but the idea of that is preferable to the actual song ngl

Right new threads up shortly but first my quick ranking/mini reviews (voted yesterday but didn't write these up yet x)

1 'A&W' - instantly one of my favourite ever songs from Lana honestly (and a travesty it so narrowly missed the top 40 :'(), I knew the production switchup was coming but can only imagine how much of a mind blow that'd be hearing it without knowing about it, it still slapped even expecting it. The first half of the song is already an excellent indie folk track but the switchup really takes it to another level with its sudden unhinged psychedelia. I wasn't a huge fan of her last album but if the singles from this one are anything to go by this is going to be a huge rebound to potentially one of her best albums?! whipping out the perfect 10/10 for the first time

2 'Low' - my favourite album track from SOS so hooray for its popularity / virality lasting long enough for it to finally get to the top 100 now, I wish this was the song on the album that had the Travis Scott feature instead of the fairly underwhelming 'Open Arms' as Travis would fit this one like a glove, he even has the adlibs on it already!! but anyway another great psychedelic trap song, I keep having 'keep it on the lowski I'm the lowest of the lowest' stuck in my head 9/10

3 'Glue Song' - I feel like this is toeing the line between being adorably wholesome and sickeningly wholesome but dammit I can't help but smile hearing it even if it's pretty basic lyrically, the instrumental being lovely certainly helps 8/10

4 'When I Get There' - this actually didn't leave much of an impression on me on first listen but it hit me way harder revisiting it for this poll - another case of a song making more impact when paying closer attention to the lyrics I guess which I really really need to make more effort to do more often lol. But yes, a pretty beautiful and heartfelt ballad here, at least we're 2 for 3 on the P!nk hits this era actually being good 8/10

5 'Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix)' - well this is a bit of an oddity, I think the instrumental sounds quite cool but it's obvious that it's remixing a song that was meant to be higher energy so the vocals don't really fit, I checked out the unreleased original as well and it definitely sounds better even if fairly standard Uzi fare. 7/10 for the original but 6.5/10 for the version that's actually available to stream

6 'Heaven' - I'm struggling with this one, I have liked if not loved most of Niall's singles but this one is just ok, sounds like a decent 5 Seconds Of Summer song I guess? Grew on me a little on second listen but I'm already forgetting how it goes again oop 6/10

7 'Evergreen' - feels odd to rate this as it's the kind of song I'd normally not bother rating on an album as it's more just an intro than a proper song but like... I guess I'll say it sounds like I'd probably enjoy this album, sounds like some good indie folk stuff, there's just not enough here to consider this specific song as a big favourite. Pleasant but not a song/10

8 'Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine)' - even more odd to rate this one as the two most popular versions are completely different genres lol. TRINIX's one is definitely more creative and an ok if fairly generic dance tune, Prinz's on the other hand is quite awful, baby's first drill production complete with super basic lyrics that just don't make sense at all in the setting of a drill song, I want to hear about opps getting splashed not this God crap thank you xx The core issue with both versions (and The Kiffness' naff reggae version which I also listened to) is just that the source material is quite annoying, bless the little kid but I don't really want to be hearing that on loop in the background oops. 5/10 for TRINIX, 1/10 for Prinz, we'll average it to 3/10

9 'HOPE' - I thought the first minute or so of this was actually quite nice which made me think NF might be turning a new leaf but then he dives straight back into self parody for the rest of it. Nice motivational seminar set to stock dramatic music there Nate. And we don't even get the payoff in the parts where it sounds like it's building up to some big crescendo, I guess it makes it less predictable but doesn't make it any better. The very ending of the song in particular is such a damp squib, the '30 years of [x]' section goes on waaaay too long and then the song just ends. Vague pockets of potential but overall... the first minute of Falling In Reverse's song did this better sorry lmao 2.5/10

10 'Barbie' - copy and paste what I said about their last entry except this one is slightly worse as it's somehow even more boring and the references to charting sound very forced and lol 2/10

11 'Pretty Boys' - ergh. I mean it is better than 'X&Y' but only in the same way 'SAD B!TCH' was better than 'PSYCHO'. This is still borderline painful cringe to listen to, the improvement just comes from it owning its vapidity a bit more compared to 'X&Y' which sounded like it really thought it was doing something clever. Please let's not make Caity Baser a thing 0.5/10

Voted for the top 4.
