Oh wow that's amazing for FLO!!! Low key hopeful this could be their breakthrough hit.

I suspect this is the lead single for an upcoming album later this year. There appears to be a fair budget for this song based on the Missy feature/music video.

The music video for "Miracle" was released earlier today. That should help boost its numbers a little in the chart. Would love if it managed a week at #1 or dethroned Ed at some point.

Apple:

4 Switch Disco & Ella Henderson - REACT

6 NEW Ed Sheeran - Eyes Closed

8 Jax Jones & Calum Scott - Whistle

24 Caity Baser - Pretty Boys

51 Hozier - Eat Your Young

55 NEW FLO - Fly Girl (feat. Missy Elliott)

+ Lana with 8 album tracks top 200.

As usual, those anonymous dance tracks no one cares about doing so well on Apple :D

Eyes Open in at #5 on Spotify with 323K

nice to see lots of Lana album tracks with Candy Necklace the highest at #32

2nd highest entry behind Ed is something called Labour by Paris Paloma at #29 no clue what that is

this Labour song has apparently had cazillions of tiktok views pre-release

very good for Lana with the whole album charting even those crazy interludes

Ed under-performing as expected... when applying ACR the top 5 would be:

1 Miracle 435K

2 Flowers 390K

3 Die for You 325K

4 Ed 323K

5 Ceilings 258K

so nearly a 100K lead x Miracle

Really hoping Miracle can get a shot at #1 at some point! Could Ellie’s release week be its best shot if it’s tacked into the end of her album on streaming services?

I know Bad Habits didn’t debut at #1 on Spotify though did it and that was a long running #1 I don’t even think Flowers did either did it although it climbed fast during release week in numbers.

That’s good for Lana! I’d love it if she could get another lead artist top 40 but she should at least be safe for some top 100 entries.

I know we learned with Bad Habits not to judge Ed’s success off of first day streaming, but Eyes Open only debuted at #23 Globally which does seem shockingly low for a lead single with a such a push

What did Bad Habits open with and how did its first week perform on Spotify each day for comparison?

Too early to call Ed a flop just yet but we can hope.

Ed will be @1 anyway cos of the physicals

Even if underperforming @1 is guaranteed when you add 30k physicals

Day 1 is poor but remains to see how the label reacts

And if they do like last time and instruct spotify to place the song

As track 1 in all immaginable playlists on Monday like they did with bad habits

[ Bad Habits debuted with 4.7M and was No.2 in the UK with 500k streams]

as I suspect Eyes Closed will be #1 this week because of CDs but perhaps there is hope that Calvin Harris can eventually overtake to nab a week at #1 later on,

although it's still too early to rule out that Ed could just end up doing a Bad Habits again to a lesser extent and hog the #1 for the next 10 weeks (or until the next big new release comes out)

The thing is, Ed hasn't really been away. In fact, he's been very present for the best part of 2 years now. Celestial wasn't that long ago, and he's had a couple of low key releases since then but he definitely hasn't gone anywhere, which makes it difficult to capture those curiosity streams because people haven't really had the chance to miss Ed. I think it's an okay debut, it could be much better but feels about right when it's basically the latest in a long line of Ed singles (something that his lead singles usually aren't). Intrigued to see where it goes from here.
He’ll still be #1 with the physicals but if he didn’t have them I’m not confident he would get #1 this week, there’s still hope for Calvin/Ellie I reckon!
