Posted March 17, 20232 yr Can't believe its time already to do my first top songs... countdown! almost 3 months into 2023! :o time has flown by. I still have 2 more charts of March to publish, this coming 24th and then the following 31st before I countdown this, but i'm setting it up now otherwise i'll forget and end up doing it in mid april lmao. Couple of contenders for my top song of the year so far: - Red Flags - Mimi Webb [2 weeks at #1 in January] - ceilings - Lizzy McAlpine [2 weeks at #1 in March] - Dancing's Done - Ava Max [1 week at #1 in January] - Escapism. - RAYE & 070 Shake [0 weeks at #1 in 2023, but has spent all but 2 weeks of the year in the top 10] - Body Better - Maisie Peters [1 week at #1 in January] There are also gonna be plenty of older songs from the likes of Lana Del Rey, Camila Cabello & The Weeknd impacting due to rule changes allowing all songs into my chart! So don't be shocked if you see a 2013 song in my Top 50 lol
March 17, 20232 yr Author Also, in typical Conor fashion I've had 9 #1s on my personal chart this year. I obviously move on as quickly as i get attached lolllll. looking forward to doing a countdown, they're always fun to do! hope you enjoy my music taste if you follow on!
March 20, 20232 yr Author In the meantime, here is a selection of songs from last year's equivalent of this chart. the ones i'll focus on are ones that i still listen to now/ had a big impact over the whole year!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #36 - abcdefu - GAYLE GAYLE's only global hit, it became a decent sized one in my charts, though follow up 'ur just horny' which spent 2 weeks at #1 last febuary outshone it. she wasnt a one hit wonder in my chart, though shes only had these 2 "big" hits, the rest have been much much smaller
March 27, 20232 yr Author #29 - Celebrity Skin - Doja Cat Doja covered the iconic track for an american ad, but i loved her cover! still a bop, and hopefully we get some proper music from her this year!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #25: Cicles Around This Town - Maren Morris this was the lead single from Maren's gorgeous album Humble Quest, and though Nervous outshone it by being the bigger hit, this one is still a hit in my chart in its own right, and is such a fun bop that deserves a mention!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #18: Where Did You Go? - Jax Jones feat. MNEK at this point last year, WDYG had only scraped a couple weeks on chart and was already at this stage. who would've thought by the end of the year it would still be in the EOY top 20! it for sure overstayed its welcome officially but i never tired of it and its still a bop!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #16: Bam Bam - Camila Cabello ft. Ed Sheeran Same as above, at this point last year Bam Bam had only been in the chart for 3 weeks, and 2 of those were at #1! Its easily Camila & Eds biggest hits respectively, and I still love it, i can't not dance to that latin groove!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #14: Beg For You - Charli XCX feat. Rina Sawayama This one was a significant hit for both Charli & Rina because not only did it give Charli a stable hit after previous hit 'Good Ones' dropped out after just 3 weeks, it also became rina's first top 40 entry and kickstarted a huge year for her which included several more top 10s, a #1 album and 3 songs in the EOY top 40!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #13: Love Sux - Avril Lavigne This, like Bam Bam, had only been in the chart for 4 weeks this time last year, 2 of those at #1. It is to date Avril's biggest hit and in part cemented her as one of 2022's biggest artists, and proved how despite being 20 years into her career she was better than ever! That middle 8 still gets me so hyped every time i hear it!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #8: she's all i wanna be - Tate McRae a year ago, this still hadn't hit #1. now it has spent 38 weeks on chart, 3 weeks at #1 and was streamed over 1000 times in 2022. what a motherf***in smash!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #7: Seventeen Going Under - Sam Fender when this first entered the UK charts, i did not like it one bit. Eventually it grew on me and ended up reaching #2! Still love it, and his glasto performance of it is my favourite!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #6: We Don't Talk About Bruno - Carolina Gaitan, La Gaita, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Dianne Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and Encanto Cast this going #1 both in the UK and in the US was a wow moment for sure, but this strange song captured my heart too, making #1 for me too! That artist list is insane too!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #5: ur just horny - GAYLE as mentioned above, this one outshone abcdefu (and rightfully so as its so much better) spending 2 weeks at #1! shame she's skipping this from her Era's Tour setlist because i'd love to hear and see it live!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #4: All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) - Taylor Swift still the longest running #1 on the chart, this insane 10 minute long song spent 6 weeks there in 2021, and has spent 42 weeks on chart! still not bored of it, its insane how it doesnt feel 10 minutes long when you listen to it!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #3: Bite Me - Avril Lavigne this was the big comeback that kickstarted her new era and showed us Avril was back!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #2: Message In A Bottle (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) - Taylor Swift A pop vault track that could've been on 1989, its a mega bop, and managed a single week at #1 in Jan!
March 27, 20232 yr Author #1: Red (Taylor's Version) - Taylor Swift Title track to RED (TV) was stuck behind ATW in 2021, but at the beginning of 2022 it finally pushed to the top and spent 3 weeks at #1! It was Taylors 2nd #1 single and first of 2022, and by December she'd racked up a further 8 (!!!) #1s!
March 27, 20232 yr Author My personal chart for 31.3.23 will be unveiled on wed/thur and right after the top 50 songs of THIS YEAR will be counted down!
