well at least Calvin managed a week at #1 in-between the Ed & Drake releases! Presuming this new Drake song does indeed sail straight to #1, which being a standalone release it could very well do.

yes Im fearing it's gonna be an easy #1 for Drake, mostly cos #1 is barely doing 300K so hardly any real competition

but haven't heard the new Drake not sure if it's a return to form or another boring monotonic snoozefest

I Think not. He still opens at no. 1 with every album release (except Honestly, Nevermind). "Her Loss" was a very successful era, the album opening with over 36K with no physicals and three songs selling over 30K first week. "Rich Flex" sold 8K more than "Eyes Closed" on streaming and downloads. He's on a streak right now, he hasn't missed the top 40 with any of his singles (as a lead artist) since 2019. He also hasn't missed the top 40 as a featured artist since 2021. Honestly, Nevermind was a massive turn in Drake's sound, the fans didn't like it and still it sold over 27K first week. "Her Loss" was a collaborative album with no feature, hence why it sold less than CLB or Scorpion. It also had no single or audio promo prior to release, it still sold over 36K. If Drake were to release a solo rap album, it would be huge. He isn't really in decline.
