Posted April 30, 20232 yr One of her most divisive eras, the same can be said for people's views on the album artwork. This fan has said that this image from the ARTPOP album photoshoot would've made a better album cover. Do you agree? @1652316284913168384 The artwork as it is, to compare: Which image do you prefer for the album?
April 30, 20232 yr The Artpop cover is awful but I have just got that misprint vinyl which is all white aside from the ball! A funny misprint!
April 30, 20232 yr The actual cover reflects the messiness of the album lol But maybe that should"ve been the cover for one of the singles?
April 30, 20232 yr Author I think the artwork reflects the chaos of the album and its deliberately in your face and garish. The image chosen here is fantastic, simplistic and I love that the tattoo would've showed the title of the album. However, I don't think it would have fit with the music/themes of the album as well?
April 30, 20232 yr I don't think the actual album cover is great at all but... I wouldn't change it to the other image unless... The facemask was removed... then I would say it would have been quite great.
April 30, 20232 yr Author This is a really interesting take and has got me thinking: @1652610463769698305 @1652617894524592128 Stripped back but masked with the over the top production. So the mask image may have been perfect from this perspective.

It might have worked as a single cover for Aura had it been pushed as a single “behind the aura, the mask being the aura”.
April 30, 20232 yr I've seen that image used for fanmade artwork before but I definitely prefer the actual cover! It really brings across the abrasive, loud feeling of the album (and of course there's the Birth Of Venus in the background to reference one of the album's best songs). The mask image does have a futuristic vibe but it's too minimalist for such a dense-sounding album.
May 1, 20232 yr Author The album is sort of Gaga "unmasked" (songs like Dope, MJH, Aura, DWUW etc reflect this) so the irony of having a naked Gaga wearing nothing but a mask (that also doesn't cover her mouth) - I think it's an interesting one and would've been a nice representation of the album for those reasons. However musically and sonically the album cover chosen is definitely the vibe that the album gives off. Maybe this mask image should've been the back cover of the album
May 1, 20232 yr Author Agreed. Also for the record, I've now voted no in this poll~ preserving her artistic integrity x
