December 30, 200618 yr I don't reckon the rules will stay for long. All you need is an internet/Scott Mills/Sun campaign to download a flop 1994 dance song and it can get to number one. Pathetic. I was thinking more along the lines of The Beatles , "Hey Jude" or something, oh yeah "Something" That would be nice to see chart.
December 31, 200618 yr I think chasing cars will enter the top 10-20 again next week, it's #3 on itunes Edited December 31, 200618 yr by darren
January 1, 200718 yr Hmmm...here are the songs that I expect to re-enter the top 75 on sunday: Snow Patrol-Chasing Cars Nelly Furtado-Maneater The Automatic-Monster Gnarls Barkley-Crazy James Morrison-You give me something Cascada-Everytime we touch
January 1, 200718 yr 'Mad World' by Gary Jules is currently No.25 on iTunes so that might have an outsider's chance of appearing on Sunday's chart.
January 1, 200718 yr Well, at the very least it will be interesting! I hope Chasing cars et al do re-enter the chart though, as they should never have been excluded in the first place. Don't forget, future physical releases can now chart once they have sold enough downloads, so expect Mason and Princess Superstar and Mika making earlier appearances.
January 1, 200718 yr So let's say someone accidentially bought let's say a song more than once, let's say about 100 times could that song chart? Or if that person got a whole lot of people to buy this song, it could chart? Yes I presume so. The same way that if you went into a record shop and accidentally bought the single 100 times, it would probably chart But a song that wasnt a single Like with Fergie's Clusmy, it was randomly being played and people downloaded it does that mean that cud of charted, even though it had no intention of becoming a single!

January 1, 200718 yr Author This new rule REALLY won't make that much diffrence to the chart. Not really, the only difference will be Nos 76-200.
January 1, 200718 yr Will yesterday's sales count e.i. if Maneater sold bucket loads yesterday would those downloads count or will it only be from today?
January 1, 200718 yr I think its a good idea but I really dont think that album tracks should be allowed to chart.
January 1, 200718 yr Author Will yesterday's sales count e.i. if Maneater sold bucket loads yesterday would those downloads count or will it only be from today? Yesterdays sales should count, towards this week's chart I agree with Fiesta Album tracks shouldn't be counted, as I can see where the chart will be heading towards a Track chart for everything, instead of having a singles and album chart.

Or if that person got a whole lot of people to buy this song, it could chart? i think it will be excluded as the same e-mail/same credit card/home address will be used over and again and the data will show up this factor.
January 1, 200718 yr I think its a good idea but I really dont think that album tracks should be allowed to chart. album tracks will only chart if they get played loads on the radio or are shown on tv. the chart will be even more controlled by the influence of radio and television programmers
January 1, 200718 yr Surely the album track rule will now mean that artists will only have 2 or 3 singles off albums at the most.
January 1, 200718 yr i really thik that only songs that have been released as singles will be allowed chart

Couldn't find the Mason and Princess Superstar track for legal download, only the original, so I'm interested to see if the original version charts alongside the new version at some point...
