I just noticed that this exhibition also will be in Barcelona since June. Fingers crossed - I have a plan to be there for Rob's concert so then will try to reach the Moco too. I hope so! 🤞 🙏

Robbie Williams shows off his arty side with new vocation as cartoonist

Robbie Williams really can turn his hand to anything. He’s been in a boyband, went solo, took up modern art, is starring in his own biopic and is now taking up a career as a cartoonist. The former Take That star, 49, has started inking doodles for a new project with a working title of Robart, or “drawing things”. So far, they’ve received a warm reception, though some online have ticked him off for his toilet humour. One shows a weight loss champ winning the Ozempics, named after the weight-loss injections, while two toons depict men on the toilet.

The first time Robbie ventured into art, back in 2011, he made Jackson Pollock-inspired paintings. Last year, he exhibited his abstracts at Sotheby’s in Dubai, where one of his “childlike paintings for naughty grown-ups”, as he describes them, sold for £40,000. So his new illustrations could prove yet another money spinner.

Still, he did venture into it with some trepidation, saying last year: “I don’t think there is a celebrity or actor who has gone into the art world without being kicked in the head. People like you being in your box.” However so far, he has been heartened by the response. He says: “I love how my drawing things are going down,” teasing that there would be “more later in the year”.

I can see the Grayson Perry influence running through this piece ( ie: telling a story through his artwork)

robbiewilliams When I got sober, one of the most painful discoveries about who I am as a human was how deeply uncomfortable I feel in social situations. Cocaine, vodka and MDMA took all of that away. Here I was: a shell of a person, with no ability to ’human’.

For those who don’t experience social anxiety: you know how an uncomfortable silence on a phone call can feel? Well, it feels like someone's distilled that discomfort and injected it right into your veins. And the dose lasts for however long you are in anyone's company .

Draining, frightening; and all the time your body is telling you to run away. I just didn't have the ability to have a conversation with anyone, even sometimes with good friends. It's unbelievably depressing and isolating. I like people; I actually love people and I need them; I need friendship.

I had to learn how to ‘human' with humans…it was painful; it still is, but less so now.

I’ve become so good at it. People who look on would think I’m a social butterfly - I’m not. I’m still a moth who’s concentrating so hard to not let our interaction fall to shit. I can fool anyone now - even my wife, who'll say: "You looked like you were having a great time tonight”, and yeah thats what it will ‘’look like" from the outside

But trust me: it’s been a marathon.

It's interesting what Rob feels is the perfect gig & what we as fans think is the perfect gig - Dont' you think :kink:

I caught the end of the gig and it seemed he was enjoying it - It's hard to judge how he is doing because I've seen it all so many times before - I can't tell if he's being brilliant or having an off day - Twitter was 50% brutal/50% positive.

In the end I guess we all see different things in a gig and I guess RW does too.
