Seeing the success Kylie has achieved since joining BMG, do you think her former record label regrets not having her on its roster anymore? :sarah:

I'm sure they're probably happy for her, it's obvious by the end that relationship wasn't working for either of them anymore.

Precisely. If she hadn't left them, it's unlikely her career would've played out the same way; same as asking if Deconstruction were unhappy to have dropped her when they saw Spinning Around hitting number one, or if S/A/W were unhappy about letting her go when Confide in Me hit #2. The truth is... the Golden, Disco and Tension eras would've been something entirely else if she had stayed with Parlophone.

This is a fair point, although hadn't Deconstruction gone bust by the millennium?

I think both sides knew they had naturally reached the end of their partnership, they achieved incredible success together and whilst we all have some grumbles of things that could have been done better on the whole they totally delivered for Kylie.

Even if they regret her not being signed to them they probably know even if she was they wouldn’t be the right fit, BMG really know how to work with and market ‘legacy’ acts and tap into their fanbases.

I totally agree, I think everyone understands that it wouldn’t work as well with Kylie on Parlo as with BMG.

BMG’s resources are more limited, as it’s not a major label, but given Kylie is probably their biggest act, they have put a huge amount of effort into her, and it clearly paid off.

And I think BMG are VERY happy with PP achieving a hit single status, as they’re known for selling physical albums, but with the singles their artists struggle for various reasons.

^^ Was thinking the same, BMG must be chuffed they have managed to guide a Kylie single into the charts in the current climate, they’ve had limited single success with of course Kylie and the likes of Craig David, Steps etc., but this really does feel like a moment for them as a label.

I know they had KSI signed on a co-deal for a while and he had single success with them but this time it’s for one of their core artists that really in todays world has no business debuting high on release week.

I doubt parlophone have any regrets, they had a great working relationship and they achieved some amazing things together but i think like pwl the time had come to move on for both. BMG have been brilliant with Kylie, the relationship is just working really well and they are building on the revival kylie experienced when she returned with Golden. BMG have done great with the albums, i have had my misgivings with how some of the singles were handled but they have def come through with padam padam even though i hate a thursday release.

I will miss the massive stage design. I doubt we will see her touring on similar stage design (you know, massive design with multiple elevators...)

Nah, the relationship ran its course but they really delivered for Kylie depsite the multiple hiccups... Collectively, the fans' feeling were that she should've left after X.
