To be fair I did only do one listen of this semi-final and it was a pretty last minute and rushed / slightly distracted one at that so any of my analysis of these songs probably should be taken with a pinch of salt! But yes I guess that was just a kneejerk reaction to the vocals, I will give it another listen and see if I pick up more on the other elements of it. Sorry if that comment came across a bit reductive.

 

I guess you must have been doing at least something right to get solid points from both Terra Avium and République d'Áskorza :thinking:

Ah don't worry it's not a criticism! Just saw that you said it didn't sound like an Aelandor entry so I wanted to point out I hadn't gone completely left-field and it lines up at least in some ways with some of my other entries. I often only manage 1 listen through too. There are a lot of songs to divide your attention between and particularly for the semis a lot of it is about first impressions.

Meh. But such a low score of 56 points was to be expected. This semi was horrendous, just dated synth pop and some ‘I’m not like other girls I promise!!1’ questionable choices all over the place.

Ooooo interesting to see the semi votes. Feels like Kotomi didn't appeal at all to those who would probably usually be closer aligned to my tastes but got a few points from countries that perhaps aren't usually as closely aligned.

Done another listenthrough of semi 1 today, I do feel now that I underrated a few of the DNQs but not to the point where I'd have voted for any that I didn't already (would just move Wholune, Harmonica and Aelandor up a bit in my rankings). Think I'd also be shuffling about the order of my top 5 a bit.

Ahhh, oh well, to be expected :lol: To be fair, I kinda went off my entry so the DNQ is fair enough really. Should have gone with my second choice of back up which I'll save for the next contest.

 

Think I only lost three of my votes, but my favourites all got through thankfully.
