A superwoman chick, you know that I am

| 49 // Mary Jane Holland // 6.86

| 50 // Money Honey // 6.75

| 50 // Grigio Girls // 6.75

We have a joint placing to start off the top 50. First off, Grigio Girls marks the highest placed bonus track on Joanne. It's a heartfelt, remincising song about Gaga's dear friend Sonja and staying strong in her battle against cancer. We also lose Money Honey from the debut album. The song was originally written for someone else, but Gaga noticed its potential and how "gaga" it was, so she included it on The Fame. Back to ARTPOP now, with Mary Jane Holland. The song was first introduced to an audience at the Born This Way Ball when Gaga introduced herself as MJH, and in the song she refers to her blondeness as being owned by the public and no longer hers. In the song she takes on the alter ego after taking drugs and drinking alcohol and feels free as a result. Paper Gangsta is next and most notably featured as a short clip on the Telephone music video. Here Gaga addresses being dropped by her record label and a 6-month deal. Finally, Fun Tonight is out - a deeply emotional song for Gaga, she sings about the difficulties she has faced in being happy even in the face of all those around her trying their best to make her so. She has stated that it is "one of the saddest songs" on the album.

What a start to the top 50. I love this collection. Grigio Girls is so underrated - I can feel the love she has for Sonja/her girls throughout it <3 big shoutout to Paper Gangsta too and MJH has grown over the years.

HUGE love for Fun Tonight. It's been done dirty here. Perhaps the saddest song on Chromatica and such an interesting structure/composition. We adore it <3

Fun Tonight is the highlight of that bunch for me. Perhaps a little throwaway when compared to others on the album but still very solid.
FT, GG and PG are the worst songs on their respective albums, although Plastic Doll manages to be worse than Fun Tonight.

'Fun Tonight' gets such a hard time :(

'Paper Gangsta' is genuinely one of the worst things she's ever recorded, it's unbearable. 'Money Honey' has kinda aged like milk (although I get some occasional enjoyment out of it)

Run, run with her top down, baby, she flies

| 44 // The Fame // 7.18

| 45 // Black Jesus | Amen Fashion // 7.14

| 46 // Sour Candy // 7.11

Chromatica loses two tracks in a row as the promo single, and collaboration with BLACKPINK drops out. Sour Candy was released a day before the album dropped and the audio alone broke records on Youtube. We also lost Black Jesus | Amen Fashion from Born This Way - remarkably, it's the first album track to drop out from the album. Included as a bonus track on the album, it's an autobiographical song about Gaga's move to New York when she was 19. The title track from The Fame was sung in one take by Gaga and quintessentially explores all aspects that the debut album addresses. The song became an anchor for the album as a whole after Gaga decided to name it after this track. We lose Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) from Born This Way, the tour opener! The song has nods to Springsteen and Billy Joel, including through the use of the sax, and Gaga also allows that to hark back to her childhood as she grew up listening to these artists. She has stated that the song is about herself, on the road with nothing but a dream. Finally, from the ASIB soundtrack, Hair Body Face drops out. The song is performed by Ally in the film and represents her funky, pop vibes.

Highway Unicorn probably my favourite in that bunch. It being the tour opener means it will always have a special place in my heart  HBF and The Fame are decent too and BJ/AF is ok~ Sour Candy I find overrated oops

Can we pick up the pace of these results?

Not really because I work full time, am busy living my life in the evenings and this is just a hobby for me not something I'm obliged to rush - takes a while prepping the results.

The killer queen inside me's coming to say hello

| 42 // Fashion of His Love // 7.29

| 42 // The Queen // 7.29

| 44 // Starstruck // 7.25

| 44 // A-Yo // 7.25

| 46 // Heal Me // 7.23

The ASIB soundtrack loses Heal Me, a sister song to The Cure and one where Gaga wants to be treated like a patient and healed by her lover's touch. A-Yo was initially planned as the second single from Joanne, but Million Reasons was chosen instead due to its hype and performance on iTunes. A-Yo remained an album track, but was it the right decision? The track is a rousing country/folk banger. Starstruck from the debut era was one of the last tracks recorded for the album. Featuring Flo Rida and Space Cowboy, it was originally included on the US version of the album. The song managed to chart on the UK singles chart (top 200) and the Bubbling Under chart in the US - a smash. Two Born This Way tracks in a row now as The Queen and Fashion of His Love bow out. The former is a love letter to the fans and also about bravery and being unafraid especially in the LGBTQ community. The latter was one of the first songs Gaga wrote for the album and serves as a tribute to the late Alexander McQueen, written after his death.
