The 2024 UEFA Champions League, the 69th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 32nd season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. The final will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on 1 June 2024. The 1st Round Qualifier draw was held last week.

Preliminary Quakifying Round:

Semi-finals 27/6/23

Atlètic Club d'Escaldes (Andorra) vs Budućnost Podgorica (Montenegro)

Tre Penne (San Marino) vs Breiðablik(Iceland)

Final 30/6/23

The winners of this tournament then go through to the 1st Qualifying Round on the 12/7/23 where the champions of the 29 countries in UEFA coefficients 16-51 enter the tournament. (This excludes Leicenstein as their teams play in the Swiss football pyramid and Russia who are banned from UEFA competitions following the war in Ukraine. This means the Serbian champions will automatically qualify for the group stages this year.)

Half-time in the Final of the preliminary round (the idea of there being a 'final' when there are 75 teams yet to enter the competition feels slightly bizarre!), Breiðablik of Iceland are beating Budućnost Podgorica 4-0 so it's looking like they'll be the ones to progress and play Shamrock Rovers, where they'll likely bow out as well.

So we will be into the 3rd round next week with big teams joining including 1988 winners PSV Eindhoven, 1993 winners Marseille and Rangers.

After entering the competition in June Icelandic champions Breidablik finally bow out after 3 2 legs matches against Danish champions Copenhagen!

There was also quite the game between Belarusian Champs BATE and Cypriot side Aris Limmasol who won 5-11 on aeg!!

Let's not forget the Faroese team still alive.

It's not quite the Champions League but I went to the Europa Conference League qualifier between Bohemians 1905 & Bodø/Glimt last night.

It was a great atmosphere, even with the home team losing and a decent match.

Indeed, is that the farthest a Faroese team has ever went?

You in Prague? Would be class to go, I normally head to a European game in July in NI here when the local sides are playing, always makes for a different game compared to the normal season!

I've just got back home but I've been in Prague for the past week.

I've been to watch a couple of Welsh teams in Euro qualifying when I was younger but it was great to go to a proper European tie abroad. The Bohemians fans were class even though they got outplayed.

I probably say this every year, but the fact that 33 teams have to fight for four qualification spots whilst 26 other teams just sail straight into the competition doesn't really feel right.

Indeed it’s a joke so all the big sides can only compete.

The only game I’ve been to see abroad outside of internationals is a Portuguese League game Sporting Lisbon vs Belenese, it was class!
