Posted July 1, 20231 yr Featuring Valentina and Lolita Banana as hosts and judges, and the producers of Drag Race España seasons 1 and 2! Cast incorporates queens across all of Mexico and includes living legends, a (male) queen married to a woman with a kid, and a woman queen. Episodes 1 (which I've seen) and 2 (which i haven't) are out so far. High hopes!
July 2, 20231 yr I like this franchise so far but Valentina is really not a good host :( She seems awkward and not natural me you notice it even more when she’s next to Lolita who is such a natural. Also not keen on the judging so far, I can see a Sharonne run for Cristian D:
July 3, 20231 yr Author Apparently Val was nervous about her language when filming because iirc either she doesn't speak Spanish daily, or the Spanish she speaks isn't the Mexican dialect that was used during filming and so she had to actively learn it on the fly. I think this accounts partly for why she's sounding more 'scripted'. Lolita Banana is a joy though. It's great to see her leading this, she has ahost's personality down and is reminding me of p'Art and Pangina from DRT.
July 6, 20231 yr The judging this week was a MESS, how did Regina win and Vermelha go in a pairs challenge when really they did pretty much the same thing?! Regina could have been low/bottom all3 weeks so far, I like her but I’m not impressed with what she’s shown so far. Safe at best for me this week and Pixie or Matraka should have won. Regina was definitely better than Vermelha and her runway definitely helped, so I’d probably go: WIN Matraka HIGH Pixie, Cristian, Argenis LOW Regina, Gala BTM Margaret, Vermelha - Vermelha elim
July 7, 20231 yr Author I'm surprised they're robbing Pixie and Matraka! They seem like nailed on season 1 top 3 archetypes. Mexico is actually reminding me of Thailand 1 both with the judging & the slightly amateur energy and the early dynamic between Lolita & Valentina!
July 14, 20231 yr I have 0 interest in this season going forward, it fell OFF :lol: A 3 hour long Rusical only to just say Cristian had a better runway so Regina couldn’t win? And that Rusical was so stupid, the queens in the top were the only ones who really had any decent role and Pixie I swear was barely in it at all so of course she would be in the bottom. Idk it’s trying hard to get everything right and… it kinda gets nothing right? :lol: It’s a shame because the cast is great.
August 3, 20231 yr Author Mexico is knocking it out of the park! Ep 7 had a great and surprising lipsync & very touching elimination! Strange judging mind.
August 4, 20231 yr This series is just not it imo, which is a shame as it’s a decent cast. The judging is just so odd, why did they do a comedy challenge then give the win based on a Ball runway? As much as I’m happy for another Matraka win, Regina deserved it based on the challenge, if they wanted to judge mostly on the Ball, they should have just done that as challenge. I think the only wins I’ve agreed with was Cristian’s Snatch Game and Matraka in girl groups. I haven’t fully watched tbh for a few weeks I’ve skimmed and watched the challenges and runways and judging bc I’m just not that interested. I also find Valentina really awkward, and Oscar is just there, Lolita is definitely holding things together.
