Posted March 18, 20232 yr North American Qualification The North American Qualification will consist of 3 stages. 3 teams will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2 teams will qualify for the Intercontinental Play-Offs. As hosts, United States of America, Mexico and Canada have already qualified. Round 1 - The 4 lowest ranked teams will be drawn into two 2-legged ties with the winners qualifying for Round 2. Matches will be played in March 2024. Round 2 - The 30 teams (28 highest ranked teams and the 2 winners from Round 1) will be drawn into 6 groups of 5 teams and will play single round robin fixtures. The 5 group winners and 5 group runners-up will qualify for Round 3. Matches will be played between June 2024 and June 2025. Round 3 - The 12 qualifiers from Round 2 will be drawn into 3 groups of 4 teams and will play home-and-away round-robin fixtures. The 3 group winners will qualify directly to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The two best group runners-up will qualify for the Intercontinental Play-Offs. Matches will be played between September - November 2025.

The 3 is in addition to the auto-qualified hosts so there’s a decent chance of a Caribbean qualifier. If we go by the Current World Rankings it would be Costa Rica, Panama & Jamaica taking up the 3 qualifying spots with El Salvador and Honduras in the Play-Offs

July 18, 20232 yr Normally I would say Trinidad & Tobago could challenge too but their recent performance in the Gold Cup, including a 4-1 defeat to Jamaica tells me they're still not back to their former quality.

June 5, 20241 yr Interesting to see if Montserrat, which used to be one of the worst sides in the world, can do something in Group D. In recent years they've gotten alot stronger (in comparison to past years, after bringing in talent from overseas in the mother country of UK), yet are still ranked 4th in this group by metrics. You could see them beating anyone there except Panama who will run away with the group. 2nd place in that group and a few others will be hotly contested. Edited June 5, 20241 yr by DJHazey
