Posted July 22, 20231 yr Couldn't see an existing single topic (but if there is feel free to merge). Anyway, the 4K version of the girls in their Bacofoil finest has now landed. I can practically hear Cheryl wincing in agony 🤣Â
July 22, 20231 yr It's the best song from debut album and their first number one in my chart. Edited July 22, 20231 yr by Last Dreamer
July 22, 20231 yr Same for me it's a brilliant single, I miss the days of getting singles like this, no one releases songs like these anymore.
July 22, 20231 yr Wow I'm late on this one, even though I have been impatiently waiting for it! It looks a lot better. I'm not entirely convinced it's a truly 4K rescanned footage remaster... the opening scenes are giving AI with the lack of detail on their faces. Even with them being distance shots there should really be more facial detail there. Regardless, overall it's a big improvement.
July 26, 20231 yr HD video for 'No Good Advice' now available to watch! mNeO5a5tM4s It doesn't seem like they've gone back to the original footage this time but it's still a decent upgrade. I guess 'Sound of the Underground' had the alternative video so they were going back to the original footage anyway.
July 28, 20231 yr Seems so! Omg the artwork they've used for No Good Advice is terrible quality :drama:  Full image to really highlight what a terrible scan it is: https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Mu...000x3000bb.jpeg Disappointing :(
July 29, 20231 yr I'm not entirely convinced it's a truly 4K rescanned footage remaster... Is it possible to redo a video in true 4K if it contains special effects (like NGA does)?
July 29, 20231 yr In theory yes but they'd have to re-do them from scratch (some of the Steps videos went the extra mile to do this).
July 29, 20231 yr Steps fans were really spoilt with the video enhancements. Their label clearly have a solid investment in their long term career.
July 30, 20231 yr Why can't the same guy do these enhancements for GA videos? I think it's sought after and he might get something out of it. I feel like it's a case of GA's team (of you can call it that now) just don't care and don't think it's worthwhile investing proper effort, which is a shame!
July 30, 20231 yr It actually is the same person doing the Girls Aloud remasters that did the Steps remasters! I do think for the most part the remaster looks great, there's just certain frames that look a bit dodgy... For instance the very first frame of the girls lacks detail:  But even this more close up shot of Nadine towards the middle of the video looks artificial:Â
