Another Calvin Harris and Sam Smith collaboration was released on Friday! It marks their 3rd collaboration together, but which is the best?

Your Options:

Promises (2018)

Sales | 1.9M+ (As Of January 2023)

Calvin & Sam both had a massively successful 2017 with both of them scoring UK #1 singles. In 2018 Calvin released 'One Kiss' which was a huge hit and his biggest to date. So how do you follow that up? Well, you get a Grammy award-winning pop-ballad singer who has also slayed as the feature in two Disclosure hits in the past to feature on your song! This was a great move for the both of them as the song proved to garner large amounts of commercial success. The track also features some vocals of Canadian singer Jessie Reyez. Promises scored six weeks at number one in the UK charts as well as topping the charts in Scotland, Ireland & more. As of this January 'Promises' is Sam's 4th best selling song.

I'm Not Here To Make Friends (2023)

Sales | 65K+ (As Of March 2023)

Sam Smith had a chart comeback in 2022 with their track 'Unholy' which topped the charts in both the UK and the US. This set a high standard for the album 'Gloria' in January 2023. 'I'm Not Here To Make Friends' was released as the 4th single from the album. Although not an official feature, Calvin is a credited writer and producer of the song. You can hear the similarities between the track and Calvin's 'Funk Wav Bounces' works. Once again Jessie Reyez provided some vocals on the song and there is an iconic RuPaul sample at the start. The song wasn't a huge commercial success, it peaked at #23 on the UK charts.

Desire (2023)

Sales | TBA (As Of August 2023)

A few months after Calvin's Ellie Goulding collaboration 'Miracle' topped the UK charts for eight weeks he announced a follow-up. Another Sam Smith collab that continued the trancey sound of 'Miracle' titled 'Desire'. The song is a certified banger and the production complements Sam's vocals. Its hard too see how far this song will go as it has only been released for a few days but it looks like it will most certainly hit the top 20 of the UK charts at some point.

I personally don't see Desire out-doing Promises long-term in my affections, so I've given Promises my vote
'Promises' will walk this, being the long established track. 'Desire' is still too new to have a fair chance of competing, and 'I'm Not Here To Make Friends' is basically just shit.
