Biography

ANOTR

The art of blending, mixing, compiling and making music into something you’ve never heard before whilst looking for new ways to approach house music. That’s what ANOTR stands for. Characterised by their hypnotic, energetic and slick beats with influences from disco, soul, funk, jazz and every thing in between, their music is a blend between the old and the new, whilst finding the sweet spot between what is made for clubs and what is made for live performances. The Amsterdam - based pair believe that the way to move forward is to follow what is right for you as an artist, instead of following what is right in public opinion. Expect the unexpected. Feel inspired by what you already know about music but be open to learn even more. ANOTR will guide you t h rough their way of thinking, interpreting mu sic and their way of challenging you to hear what else is possible. Act before you think, forget the rules, and let us take you on our journey into sounds selected, curated and created by ANOTR. - RA

Abel Balder

After amassing 250 million streams with his instrumental beats on Spotify, Amsterdam born and raised Abel Balder took on a new challenge when underground house duo ANOTR asked him to contribute his signature guitar sound to their debut album ‘The Reset’. Over time the sessions took a different turn when Abel started to sing as well and the enthusiasm Jesse and Oz showed him about his vocal skills, gave the young singer the push he needed to sing on a record for the first time, leading to the creation of Relax My Eyes, Vertigo and Your Mind. The love they all received when ANOTR played the tracks in their DJ sets, made Abel aware that he could move people with his voice and slowly he started to realise singing was his calling all along. Using songwriting as a tool to integrate emotions, heal subconscious wounds and harmonise life’s contrasting energies, Abel’s impulsive nature and love for a wide range of genres inspire an eclectic and recognisable yet refreshing sound. - Spotify

oh I like this one

but possibly everything sounds better after that Drake/CC thing

A Drake and Central Cee collab missing the top 20? I suppose it could rebound, but still.

'Relax My Eyes' is still a fave  I wish it was climbing higher but happy it's top 40 at all!

Biography

The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. - Apple Music

Anti-Hero re-entering :cheeseblock: (if only they played both songs back-to-back )

I Can See You :cheeseblock: Such a great song and this has done so well for a Vault track! My favourite of the Speak Now Vault tracks (tho they all slay bar Foolish One) and unsurprisingly one of my fave songs of the year <3

A Drake and Central Cee collab missing the top 20? I suppose it could rebound, but still.
I don't expect it will, it's only a throwaway freestyle.

Probably would've gone top 20 if it was released on all platforms at the same time though.

Is it just me that thinks the bridge just before the final chorus in this sounds very similar to in You Belong with Me
