I don’t like the guy either, but this reads to me that the guy’s mass-promotion on right-wing media was planned rather than his high streams necessarily being from bots.

Yes there's literally no mention of bots in the linked thread so not sure where that assertion came from. Not surprising that it was an astroturfed/manufactured 'viral hit' though, it blew up way too quickly to not be suspicious. But that's the case with a lot of viral hits. 'abcdefu' comes to mind.

They are just playing the game obviously, but somehow all big MAGA online sites and influencers knew the song minute after it was released. It's obviously managed by a SEO and content agency that has Republican backing.

 

It's #3 on US Spotify and will probably debut at #1 on Hot 100, thanks to large sales.

Yes but that doesn't mean its streams/sales are bots. It just means the guy has more industry connections than he wants you to think.

I refuse to think that all streams are genuine as the Jason Aldean song plummeted on streaming services once it hit #1. If same doesn't happen to this one, fine, it's real, but I have my doubts.

I don't think Jason's streams were botted either, its trajectory on Spotify doesn't look unnatural - obviously it fell off pretty quickly after the first few days but I think a large chunk of its streams came from people who don't actually like the song much at all and were just hopping on the bandwagon to 'own the libs', and there's only so long people are going to continue listening to a song that they don't like especially after it already achieved its goal of going to #1. The Oliver Anthony discourse has been quite different, by all accounts there are a lot of people who genuinely like / connect to this song, and it has more substance to it than Jason Aldean's dogwhistle shitfest, even if its grievances are being thrown in the wrong direction. I would expect the streams of this one to hold up a lot better, though its downloads will probably follow the same pattern as Jason's. We'll see though.
