BBC Radio 2 have carried out a poll to find Britain's Greatest Ever Band.

Queen were voted Britain's greatest band, ahead of the Beatles, down to Pink Floyd in 15th position.

Please vote for your favourite and comment on what would be your Top5.

I would have voted for the following Top5 out of the 15 available.

1. The Beatles

2. Led Zeppelin

3. Rolling Stones

4. Pink Floyd

5. The Smiths

I'm surprised (and disappointed) that Spice Girls, Status Quo & UB40 made the Top15, while the Kinks, Radiohead, Blur & Duran Duran should have done better.

As for Queen being #1, I'm very disappointed with the British public.

Well I'm currently watching 'Queen Live From Budepest' on the Biography channel and I definatly think they are the best live band out of the list. ^_^

Although The Beatles are clearly the greatest British band of all time. -_-

It is beyond a joke that the Spice Girls and Status Quo are on the list whilst the bands you mentioned are'nt.

My top 5 would be, based on who is my fave: <_<

1. The Beatles

2. Oasis

3. The Stones

4. Queen

5. The Smiths

I voted the Beatles. I really don't think anyone can compare with them.

My Top 5 (from that list only?) would be-

1/ Beatles

2/ Rolling Stones

3/ Queen

4/ The Jam

5/ Oasis.

^_^

The Spice Girls are included because their achievements were massive in such a small space of time. To conquer the UK, America and in fact the entire globe in just 3 years is an amazing acomplishment in my eyes. -_-

Just like Queen etc were the band all your oldies were into in your teens, when I was 8 the Spice Girls were the first pop band I ever got into and they will always remain my favourite band. Just because they are pop? Or because they're female? Or manufactured? That gives you the right to turn your nose up at them and say they are not worthy of a place in the Best British Bands ever? Music snobbery that's all it is and I would put them first - **** the rest.

The Spice Girls are in the Top15 because the list was voted for by the Great British public.

To be honest, they deserve to be in the list more than the highly unoriginal Status Quo & UB40.

where are westlife?

They are Irish

Also, if they were why would a band who contastly cover others songs be considered one of the greatest of all time. -_-

tbh I wouldn't have the beetles in my top 5 -_-

Who are the beetles? :o

Beatles then :P I don't need to know how to spell it, there not worth it

Girls Aloud :P

haha

no, the Spice Girls ... they achieved so much and for a pop act were so innovative. Legends.

They are Irish

I thought British meant you include Irish etc?

I thought British meant you include Irish etc?

Oh no, not at all. If you said that to an Irish person they would probebly hit you :P

Britain is England, Scotland, Wales and only Northern Ireland. Not the rest of Ireland ^_^
