A Canadian singer and dancer, Tate McRae makes emotive, intimate alternative pop. Following her viral emergence in 2017, she released her debut EP, 2020's All the Things I Never Said, featuring the Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell co-write "Tear Myself Apart." She had her first Billboard Top 20 hit with "You Broke Me First" from 2021's Too Young to Be Sad EP. McRae delivered her debut album, I Used to Think I Could Fly, the following year. - Apple Music

"... although you suspect this is going to be little more than a short lived novelty."

James Masterton's comment on Cruel Summer when it re-entered at 28 back in June.

Clueless to the very end. Bless him.

love this even if her pronunciation is bad and I get 20% of what she says ;D
Wonder if this can become her highest charting song? Certainly wouldn’t rule it out with vampire and PTTR potentially at risk of ACR

Biography

A few weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” became the biggest song in the world, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch that featured a bunch of middle-aged guys shooting pool in a dive bar. One puts “drivers license” on the jukebox. Another complains that it just sounds like a teenage girl sitting alone at a piano. By the end of their discourse, they’re all in tears, singing along. “I was driving around my neighborhood listening to really sad songs, like, crying in the car,” Rodrigo told Apple Music. “And I got home and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll write a song about this: crying in the car.’” Rodrigo had tapped into a universal experience: The middle-aged guys weren’t teenage girls, but they’d also driven around listening to sad songs.

Rodrigo was just 17 when the song came out, but she had been getting ready for years. Born in Temecula, California, in 2003, she started lessons in piano, voice, and acting as a child, and went on to star in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But, really, what could prepare you for breaking the global single-week streaming record for a female artist? Especially on your first single? And getting a nod from Taylor Swift in the meantime? (Along with “drivers license” winning the Apple Music Award for Top Song of the Year in 2021, Rodrigo’s debut LP, SOUR, was the Top Album of the Year and Rodrigo herself was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.)

Like Swift—and Lorde, too—Rodrigo has a knack for conjuring big feelings through small details: an ex singing along to their Billy Joel with his new love (“deja vu”), reading his self-help books “so you’d think that I was smart” (“enough for you”). Her content is all-caps, but her delivery is lowercase, lacing bedroom pop with a vulnerability and anger rare for teen pop: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wonders on “brutal.” “I’m the biggest emo drama queen,” Rodrigo tells Apple Music. Maybe. But the key to letting it out is keeping it together. - Apple Music

this is really really really catchy
Oh forgot Tate was still to come - looks bound to become her biggest hit, it is miles better than 'you broke me first' so will not complain at that, a pretty good track from her.
Vampire from the flop #2 album Guts :D
Surprised they are playing this, they don’t usually play all 3 songs from an artist, usually just a maximum of 2 and skip 1

They almost always play the whole top 10 so it wouldn't be this or bad idea right? that they skip!

Was expecting Tension to sell more in its first week than Disco did.

So were a lot of K fans like me. The hypothesis on why it didn't is:

1. overall, record sales have fallen from 2020 to 2023 (so Kylie is still the 5th biggest opener for the year, I think)

2. With Disco, it was a Disco vs Little mix so the record label kept chucking out special editions and stuff through the week and the Covid cooped up kylie fans kept snapping them up to keep LM out of the race

3. Disco was discounted starting day 4 or 5 but Tension has been selling full price through the week

Really don't like Adore U, the vocal sounds like Winnie The Pooh

Damn, I will think about that everytime I'll hear it now.

Biography

Emerging artist cassö and his inaugural release “Prada” is set to propell the twenty-year-old producer to unprecedented heights. With a mere eight months of production under his belt, the track has marked a transformative milestone. Derived from D-Block Europe track “Ferrari Horses,” featuring the enchanting vocals of songstress RAYE, the producer’s trance-infused adaptation was conceived on his university laptop earlier this year. Enthralled by the captivating vocals, he envisioned a euphoric pluck and an assertive bassline that would escalate into an explosive drop, breathing new life into the track’s sonic landscape. - GRM Daily

Prada still rising! I love Raye's voice on this

not Prada now being Raye's second-highest charting single now

Greedy to out-peak the inferior You Broke Me First would be good to see I guess, though I hope it doesn't stop Strangers going #1
