Mika (b. 18 August 1983) is a Beirut-born, Paris and London-raised, London-based singer who has a contract with Casablanca Records and Universal Music. When he was very young, his family was forced to leave war-torn Lebanon and they moved to Paris.

His public performances and jobs have been as varied as classical performances in the Royal Opera House, writing in-flight music for British Airways and creating an Orbit Chewing Gum advertisement theme tune. After moving from Paris to London when he was nine, he attended Westminster School. He appeared on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006. Although his background lies in classical music and he lists Flamenco as a central influence, his album is more like a fusion of pop music, dance music and funk.

His debut single was a download-only track called Relax, Take it Easy (2006). It was playlisted by BBC Radio 1 in the UK and was also made 'Record Of The Week' by DJ Scott Mills; virtually unheard of for a download-only release. The Dodgy Holiday EP is also available from the iTunes Music Store.

He is a new Universal Music signing and set to release his single Grace Kelly by digital download on January 8th 2007; CD, 12" and limited edition 7" to be released on January 29th 2007. The release will feature remixes from Tom Neville, Linus Loves and Pull Tiger Tail. His debut album Life in Cartoon Motion is slated for release on February 5th 2007.

what's out that week, and what is likely to be #1 the week before?

Nothing of any importance out that week, and I think Mason will be #1 the week before...

No real big releases in January. I think Leona could stay 1-2 weeks more and than there could be 1 or 2 surprise # 1.
Absolutely love this and not heard it b4. Queen are obviously an influence. #5 but would love to see it #1 as bored of Leona already!

Leona will only stay at the max 2 more weeks at #1.

Hoping this is number 1 in a few weeks after Leona but im predicting number 3 ^_^

Mika - Grace Kelly (live Later with Jools Holland)

I really like this track (it is already in my Personal Chart & will rise rapidly, when I update it at the weekend) - he sounds like the secret love child of George Michael & Freddie Mercury.

annoying!!! i hate it so much

 So did i at first then i listened to it more and now i love it!!

Saw the official video ( I assume - he was in this one!) on the music channels a couple of days ago and noted his name because of the instant impact the song had. It's rare for a song to have that much instant appeal, and after 3 or 4 listens it's not diminished for me. I love it and would expect it to be a big hit, quite possibly No.1 with the lack of competition.

Wol.

Not too bad this one. I'm not sure if it will get to No.1, but it should go Top 5.
