Doesn't seem like new music is on the way yet.

 

The group will not be recording any new music. “We couldn’t,” Cheryl says, “because Sarah wouldn’t be included in that newness. This is about celebrating the 20 years we’ve all had. So the tour has got to be inclusive of Sarah because she’s such a massive part of our make-up. It will never feel like the old Girls Aloud again but we’ve reached a point where we feel ready to celebrate all of it. Sarah included.”

The video for their new single — the band’s first in 11 years — sees the girls playing superhero characters complete with Wonder Woman-style costumes and capes

But the tour has already been announced with the dates and the promo video. I don’t understand what the announcement at 08:30am is if there is no new music? Doesn’t make any sense.

 

I am hoping the no new music thing is a double bluff.

I'd really built myself up to the idea and expectation of new music over the last few days, so I can't help but feel slightly gutted!

 

(Although I totally respect and understand there not being new music, and in actuality I really don't mind!)

I think what most likely happened is, they were going to announce the tour tomorrow on Radio 2 but they've been forced to early because of Ticketmaster accidentally leaking all the details.

Let us all hope they change their mind and make new music down the track.

I can understand no new music. I'm just happy they feel comfortable enough to get back on stage together to perform again. Maybe in the future they will feel they can do a new song/album but if not, a tour will do me. I do wonder though if that is it now in terms of hearing about them until May or do we get some performances?

 

Getting ahead of myself with excitement here but I'm already booking a Strictly appearance in my head. Along with the professional dancers and Sarah's vocal stems (assuming they exist), they could have her singing the entire first verse with images of her on the screen before the four girls appear on the stage to finish it off. I really don't want to wait until May to hear from them again.

The fact there is no new music is really putting me off the reunion, I don’t think I’ll travel all the way to the uk for the tour then.

After an initial pang of disappointment at the reveal of no new music (likely because the rumours really built up the possibility of it to the point that I was allowing myself to believe it was actually happening)… I’m now feeling ok with that, and I totally respect the reasoning behind that decision. Maybe that is something they’ll change their mind about with time, maybe not.

 

Now I’m just fully excited about the tour and very appreciative! Literally up until last month I had come to terms with them never doing anything again. I’m really happy for the girls & for us fans that we’ll be getting this moment to enjoy them again & celebrate their legacy, and celebrate Sarah :wub:

I've told everyone I know there's a new Girls Aloud single coming on Thursday, so I'm preparing to look like a right idiot today
