I did see Lewis mentioning in his thread for the song that the Jack Harlow song already had a viral snippet on TikTok again but other than that I'd not heard much about this release (less than I had for 'First Class' iirc) so does still feel like a bit of a random instant hit - have seen it being compared to 'The Motto' which is one of my favourite Drake songs though so hopefully I'll like the song. I do still think Dua will have the advantage this week but Jack could possibly get #1 next week either way.

 

Assuming the OCC won't be crediting Hozier on 'Northern Attitude', it's just another new version of a song from the 'Stick Season' album (he's released so many of these in the last few months, I wonder if he's planning to do a full re-release with new versions of all of the songs?)

When I saw people comparing it to ‘The Motto’, I thought they meant the Tiesto/Ava Max song :lol:

Houdini is growing on me on repeat listens so kinda rooting for it now. Kind of song that really comes to life and hits the hardest in its last minute though.

 

I can't deny the chorus of the Jack Harlow song is quite the earworm but his verses simply exist.

There’s plenty of songs that hold up better on their 2nd day than Houdini has, plus I really don’t think NMF has that much of an impact. If people were as interested in the song as they were Jack’s it would’ve help up just as well, if not better thanks to Hot Hits

Personally I don't get the Take My Breath similarity at all. The song is immaculate and sounds like a smash. Jack is viral on TikTok that's why he's doing better. Give Dua time to grow, it's been 2 days!

I really don’t agree with this, as just mentioned I don’t think NMF has that much of an effect. On quieter weeks I’ve seen the top song from NMF not even chart top 200. As for her loosing 100k from NMF, you’ve just randomly made this number up, no way is that accurate lol

NMF only has an impact when people look and see a name they already know in the top few songs. It's not going to rocket somebody with no interest beforehand into having a top 10 hit, or anywhere near. It does make a difference and would have for Dua definitely I think. Jack, however, had a really good retention of NMF curiosity plays!
