Spotify Chart Update (01/11)

Cruel Summer now back in Taylor's top 3 so likely to re-enter the OCC chart next week then. First top 40 entry for Lord Huron too, could very well be a proper chart hit if the label can be bothered to ever ask for a reset...

Lord Huron are signed to Republic Records currently, whereas indie label Iamsound released the album containing 'The Night We Met'. I guess the indie label might not be as fussed/aware than Republic would be if the song was released by them?
She’s baaaack! Mariah is at #19 today, with Wham close behind at #24. I’m pretty sure this is the highest either has been on Nov 1st?

Also, White Christmas is the 4th highest XMas song, not this potentially up to its 2021 tactics again!

Last year on 1/11 MC was 41 and Wham! 54

too bad about the label thing x Lord Huron cos it's one of the best songs of recent times

surprised it was never a hit first time around s it was used in like every possible series and film

I never can with people starting Christmas on November 1st, there’s too much going on between now and Christmas Day to start now. The very same people probably think you have to stop listening after Christmas Day.

I know it's supposed to be Twelve days of Christmas but modern culture - yeww. Poor Jack Saunders is going to have several ultra grumpy weeks starting from next one.

Was gonna say, I always thought this song to be a popular song as I’ve heard it used in so many tv series etc. I was shocked when I googled it that it never charted when it was released!

It did! #77 in the UK.

Christ at Mariah being 19, I'd be bored of it by December 1st if I started this early.

Are they ever gonna combine the 1989 TV tracks on Apple Music?! It’s been so frustrating following the updates on there since the deluxe dropped with all the tracks charting twice

(Ik Midnights had the same issue but I’m sure that was sorted out after a couple of days)

I find it curious how people gatekeep Christmas songs until December, I always look forward to hearing them from 1st November! My listening usually steps up a gear when December arrives but I start getting into the festive spirit once Halloween is over and no, I'm never bored of Christmas songs by the time the actual day arrives. Let people be joyous when they want to!

‘Gatekeep’? It’s more that people just aren’t ready yet on the first of November, most people have a lot going on in the coming weeks and aren’t quite ready for Christmas yet, I’m actually rather jealous of anyone in a position to start getting excited now.

If that’s gatekeeping, why do people gatekeep Christmas songs until Novermber? Go wild, start in January.

To have a third big hit is impressive!

Curious which 3 you're counting here :P (based on Spotify peaks '10:35' is her third biggest hit in the UK whereas 'she's all i wanna be' is worldwide. I'd consider them both to be quite big but the top 2 are both clearly a lot bigger than those 2).

My Christmas playlist has 410 songs!

I thought I was doing well with 150 😅

That'd be fourth, I was thinking of You Broke Me First and She's All I Wanna Be. She also has You with Regard and Troye Sivan, but had completely forgotten about that.

Which is fine, I'm not criticising anyone who starts later, it's just curious how some talk about those who start listening in November.

And sure, I agree with the latter too, start whenever you want...!

The best way to prevent them impacting is by making playlists less visible until late November but how on earth do you do that if there’s demand for them from 1/11?
