It's really hard to box that song into a genre, it's just pure rave with many elements thrown in.

beat port categorise it as uk garage and baseline though there’s clear rave influence too

So he's put the four singles we have had into an EP/playlist thingy called USB. What's the betting none of them are on the album. Tbf they don't follow the 'Actual Life' trend of 'Name (Random Lyric)'.

 

Anywho, apparently the album is finished.

I heard this on Radio 1 the other day and it's not great for the above reason. I guess it'd be fine without the sample.

 

I take this back. I still wish the vocal sample wasn't there, or at least was used a bit more sparingly, but I am kind of loving this as well now oops, the instrumental is just too infectious. (Though it's still not as good as his other 3 singles this year).

 

The instrumental reminds me a bit of that Age Of Love song Addy sent to BJSC a while ago. It's great that something like that is a current top 40 hit, mainstream dance music really seems to be taking a turn for the better again. I endorse a full takeover of the charts by Kathalnimbiacore electronic artists now with the Corrys and Dawes confined to the gulag xx

 

Hopefully the 'USB' thing is just to collate the songs together ahead of the album release rather than a sign of them not being on the album at all.

They won't be on AL3 at all but I'm sure we will get a separate project after AL3 with these sort of songs on. I am sort of glad he's separating them and sticking to what he's used to making on those AL albums.

 

Anyhow it's been a while since I've been on here. I went to a rave of his in London in August and went to WHP in Manchester on Saturday and saw him both times, he's definitely one of the most talented live performing DJs at the moment.

Sounding good! Apparently Fred, Skrillex and Four Tet have formed a supergroup known as Pangbourne House Mafia! I'm not surprised they have been performing and working together a lot recently. This has also been added to "USB".

Baby again.. enters the chart at #52 this week. This marks Four Tet's highest appearance in the chart ever and his second ever in the Top 100 following 'A Joy' entering at #96 in 2005.
