Why did Flo seem anonymous this year after being predicted for big things!?

Cardboard Box got them a #76 peak thanks to TikTok virality and then Fly Girl got to #38. They were also on Stormzy's Hide & Seek remix, released an EP in July and received further music nominations throughout the year. They're still working on their album. Quiet in comparison to others yes but feats not to be sniffed at really.

Does the winner of this get A Alist support throughout the next 12 months?

That's usually the Brit List, confirmed at different points in the year I think. venbee and Cat Burns were added to it last year. I don't think 'Sound Of' means guaranteed A List but it's usually an act Radio 1 is already supporting so there'd be no surprise if they did make it.

FLO never made the A List this year or last year with anything as far as I remember - I think they playlisted ‘Not My Job’ and ‘Cardboard Box’ which only got to C List and then ‘Fly Girl’ which got to B?

Close, 'Cardboard Box' and 'Fly Girl' were both B-listed, but yes you're right they have never been A-listed.

The Last Dinner Party almost definitely #1, can't see how they would not be top 5.

The 2 arguably most established names on the list both making the top 3 *_* I've not been bothered by most of Olivia's songs that I've heard but I did enjoy her performance of 'Carmen' at the Mercury Prize ceremony.

Olivia’s album was one of my favourites of last year so really happy she is no2!
Was expecting CMAT and Last Dinner Party to make the top 2. Finding it all a bit less interesting now it's mainly known acts, preferred when you'd barely heard of anyone on the list

I thought I'd read somewhere yesterday about why slightly more well known acts are being chosen over completely unknown people but now I can't find it
The R1 producers are too safe now whether it be with this list, the playlist or the Future Sounds shows!
The results for this aren't decided by Radio 1. The BBC have a panel of "UK and international tastemakers" who vote on it.
