March 9, 20241 yr I gave it a listen yesterday on Spotify and I get what Jay said about them not wanting to release another GH cos they already got a few but for me this is missing too many early hits to justify buying it
March 9, 20241 yr Author It is on the expensive side plus missing a few of the big hits which is off-putting and I think many people will feel the same, when the price comes down il buy it then. Hopefully the album can get them another top 40 and with it available on more than 1 format it will help them. I always find it shocking that bananarama have never had a uk number 1 album or single which is a huge shame as they have released some great material over the years. Not that will ever happen but I'd love a campaign to kick off for them to get a number 1 and for it to happen.
March 9, 20241 yr sadly i wont be buying it either, I'd rather have a complete singles collection. Long Train Running topped my chart, so did Velvet Lies, neither on, No Tain't Fun Boy 3 original version, Na Na Hey hey, nathan Jones, I Want You Back, Help!, Moves Like Jagger, and many many more...
March 12, 20241 yr Bananarama did Moves Like Jagger? Yeah, they covered it on the Now or Never EP in 2012 although annoyingly it's never been available on Spotify!
March 12, 20241 yr Yeah, they covered it on the Now or Never EP in 2012 although annoyingly it's never been available on Spotify! really!? Wow that's odd! Oops, happily I was downloading by then so hang on I'll just click onto it on my laptop and play it on my quaint nearly-full ipod when I go on holiday next  It still sounds pretty good! :cheer: It's taken me 12 years of non-stop downloading tracks but my ipod is going to need me starting to delete tracks to make room now for newer stuff. Albums first... :o :(
March 12, 20241 yr I did buy this and am happy enough with it. I do understand the criticisms but I've got all the old tracks I want on various Now compilations and I own almost nothing from them post-80s, so this is a useful album to have. The new versions of Movin' On and Last Thing On My Mind are pretty good, liking the Robyn-esque vibe of the latter as the original sounds so crap compared to the Steps cover for me, so this does elevate it. Maybe the title is the issue, and Glorious - Bananarama's Choice or Glorious - Hits and Other Favourites, might have been better. As clearly it is not an 'ultimate' collection. It struck me that I didn't own Really Saying Something on any previous compilation - turns out they never really license it for some reason. Even the Now Yearbook and Extra for 1982 didn't get it! (It was on the 1982 Millennium Series back in 1999).
March 12, 20241 yr I love the 2 new tracks but I can’t believe how expensive the physical editions are. £19.99 for 2cd deluxe is over the top. London Records essentially just chase the collectors market now for their new issues and re-issues, they done the same with Dannii’s Neon Nights 25th Anniversary.
March 13, 20241 yr Author 13 in todays midweeks isnt to bad at all so top 30 hopefully looks safe enough.
March 14, 20241 yr They’ve added a 16 track ‘Highlights Edition’ download for £4.99 from their webstore along with a competition - https://store.bananarama.co.uk/product/1416...xavtVnV1oFfexDX
March 15, 20241 yr Made the top 30, just about at number 30. Disappointing outcome after starting off at #6 :nocheer: Nice they’ve added to their Top 40 tally though!
March 16, 20241 yr Author Ya a big drop from 6, I thought when they were 13 on Wednesday they might have managed top 25. But as many of their albums have shown they don't generally chart all that highly.
