January 4, 20241 yr I've never really watched darts but thought I'd watch the final this evening to see if this 16 year old can come through and win it. He looks about 30 years old but I hope he can do this. I'm amazed how quickly both players take their turn. Not knowing the rules, I'm assuming there is some sort of time limit but they're literally throwing their darts within two seconds of the other player taking his darts off the board. There is not any time taken to compose themselves before aiming a dart. These guys are throwing darts 8 hours a day. I'd imagine the speed of throwing the darts is just engrained in to them and part of their cycle. The best player won. Think Humpheries played well amongst all the pressure and everyone wanting Littler to win. The perfect storm for him. Both players cracked under the pressure at moiments, but pulled it back. Be interesting to see how Darts can capitalise on having another marketable star now in Littler.

There is not any time taken to compose themselves before aiming a dart. There's no time limit, some players take a fair few seconds to throw - Justin Pipe being the obvious example. Then at the other end of the spectrum you have someone lie Ricky Evans who regularly throws all 3 darts inside 1 second! All down to throwing style, quick throws suit the flow of certain players. Great match that last night, shades of 2013 where a young MVG took a 4-2 lead against The Power, had one dart which would have made it 5-2, then the other guy comes back and reels off 5 sets in a row. Humphries has been on a mad one since October, only one defeat in the past 5 tournaments is crazy.
January 4, 20241 yr Thanks for explaining. It's certainly a fast paced sport, I can see how a lot of people watch it. I enjoyed the match, the score could have been very different if Littler had taken more of the chances that came his way.
January 5, 20241 yr Congrats to Luke Humphries, and also to Luke Littler for getting into the final out of seemingly nowhere.
