Call On Me is lots of fun! Bebe wasn't wrong about that being the sister song to Sacrifice.

I was just thinking about how similar it sounded to Sacrifice. I didn’t realise that she had already called it the sister song

Hiii just checking This put!!

Wwyd from Tate was also in my gop 10 last year, what a song! Still love if!

I love seeing Olivia, Tate and Maisie in your albums top region too!

From the songs, pretty isn’t pretty is my fave guts song! So beautiful. I also love all American bitch and watch is a highlight from tgw! Slut is also gorj!

Out of the handful of songs I've heard so far you have picked 2 of my highlights from the album tracks of 'GUTS', I still think the album is overall a bit of a step down from the quality of 'SOUR' but it still has its share of great songs, I feel like 'pretty isn't pretty' is a little underrated. 'Glue Song' is super cute as well and I also liked '"Slut!"' quite a bit although I see why the initial hype around it died off quickly (and 'Is It Over Now?' is definitely the better song so fair x).

Lots of love for Slut and the two Olivia tracks.

Nice that WWYD was in your top 10 too. It feels a bit underrated in general.

I think I’ve been won over enough to say that I think ‘GUTS’ is a stronger album than ‘SOUR’ in a general sense but my preference is still her debut too.

Thank you all for commenting :D

2023 100 The Last One

In a case of very much starting how you mean to go on, kicking off the top 100 this year is Maisie Peters with the first of 11 entries for her in the top 100. 'The Last One' is one of the 6 bonus tracks added to the deluxe version of Maisie's chart-topping album and was the perfect way to close the era (and not just because of the title). While a lot of the album takes you through a whole range of emotions, from confident and sassy moments (BSC, Run) to the depressive ones (Two Weeks Ago) this just leaves you hopefully and smiling with the cutest chorus of the year.

Still in the top 3 of my latest chart, this collaboration between Dreamville label-mates Bas & J. Cole has sneaked into the top 100 right at the end of the year. I did first give this a spin when it was first released in June but for some reason it wasn't clicking with me, despite the obvious summer vibes of the track. But it has been stuck in my head ever since I listened to the album and I see it has been included on the 'EA Sports FC 24' (ie FIFA) soundtrack so I can see it sticking around for the foreseeable future.

beabadoobee gets her first EOY top 100 with 'the way things go'. Between this and 'glue song', she has found a sound that really works for her. These cute little love-ballads fit the tone of her voice perfectly. The way the instrumentation in the track builds throughout 'the way things go' is lovely and is a nice cleanser from the fast-paced tracks that overwise dominate my chart.

Little Mix are one of the biggest acts in my charts but it's safe to say that none of their solo stuff has properly blown up yet. Jesy's tracks haven't even made my chart while Leigh-Anne has begun with two low top 5 peaking singles. I do really like the afro-beats sound on this one and Ayra Starr is a welcome feature but the chorus just isn't as massive as it needs to be. I do hope they give her some more chances to find a big hit because she's earned it with her work with Little Mix. The budget was certainly here for this video. I'm really intrigued to hear what Jade and Perrie have to offer now because they always felt like the two likeliest to have a successful solo career.

Giving 'the way things go' a listen now, a very understated little song, I wouldn't have instinctively matched those lyrics with that style/instrumentation but that's not a bad thing!

Dreamville provided the soundtrack to the Creed III soundtrack in early 2023 and two of the tracks have made my top 100. First up, it's the track that was released as the first single, 'Ma Boy'. We've lost 6LACK from the trio but this reunited JID and Lute who released the brilliant 'Still Dreamin' from the deluxe version of the 'Revenge Of The Dreamers III' album. I can see how people could find this one irritating with it's repetitive chorus, but even in JID's scraps he always finds an interesting turn-of-phrase or an unorthodox flow that makes it worth a listen.

Yeah, 'the way things go' is a track that does some really interesting things that makes it really standout amongst other songs that have made the chart in 2023.

This was outside on my first draft of this chart but after listening to it again, I realised that I was being too harsh and it's landed here at #95. I think the reason why I had it so low and why it didn't do as well as you'd imagine in the charts is because it's so far from his best, it makes it feel lesser than it is. This is still a strong track and would be a highlight coming from most artists. The trumpet is great, the beat bangs, the chorus is a massive grower and the transition into the second verse is so smooth. Future doesn't have any further future in this chart but The Weeknd has one more song to come.

Bebe, THINK LATER, GUTS & The Good Witch are my favourite from your top album  and wow at such a huge victory for Maisie in your top artists!

all-american bitch, Slut, Therapy, Watch, The Last One and My Love are my favourites from your countdown so far, looking forward to following the rest! <3

Eurovision was hosted in Liverpool in 2023 and was the best Eurovision ever for me. This is the first of four entries that have made my top 100, a great turn-up for the books seeming as the previous Eurovision entry in my EOY top 100 was Eleni Foureria's 'Fuego' in 2018. 'Who The Hell Is Edgar?' is pure novelty and was Austria's entry for the contest. Teya and Salena have concocted a weird tale of being possessed by the 19th century horror writer Edgar Allan Poe with the ubiquitous 'Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe' chant repeated throughout. Sure, it's meant to be read as a satire on ghostwriting and the music industry, but it's just more fun to think of it as two Austrian popstars who are convinced that they've been possessed by the author of 'The Raven'.

2023 93 All Of The Girls You Loved Before

It's hard to keep up with what Taylor released last year but this was released all the way back in March, just as she was beginning the first leg of her Eras Tour. 'All Of The Girls You Loved Before' was originally recorded for her 2019 'Lover' album but ended up missing the cut. However it eventually got it's release after a demo version of it had went viral. With all the excitement of the 'Speak Now' and '1989' re-releases, I can honestly say I had forgotten about this one. Listening to it again now, the chorus still slaps but the verses aren't amongst her most memorable. Taylor has 3 more entries to come.

Leah Kate's EOY History:

2022 44 10 Things I Hate About You

2023 92 My Bed

'My Bed' bagged two weeks at #2 right at the start of the year at the quietest period in my chart's history. One of the reason's for this is that I was ill for the first week and spent the whole time in bed and didn't listen to much music. One thing I did have on was the deluxe version of Leah Kate's 'Alive and Unwell' EP that released in late December 2022. Aside from '10 Things...', the stand-out track turned out to be 'My Bed'. This is definitely still from the time where Leah was desperate to get another TikTok hit and her attempt here was by interpolating Kylie's classic 'Can't Get You Out of My Head'. At first I found it a bit obnoxious but it won me over eventually. Mainly just due to how catchy Kylie's track as as this is the same tune. This is the first of 8 from Leah Kate but the rest are from her 2023 debut studio album.

2023 06 I Got It Bad

2023 20 2 Die 4 (feat. Charli XCX)

Addison Rae's EOY History:

2023 91 I Got It Bad

I'm not a TikTok-er and somehow managed to avoid hearing 'Obsessed' when it was first released and, going into the release of her 'AR' EP, I had heard Addison's name but that was about itl I've never seen any of her videos. But there was a lot of talk about this EP when it was released. I'm still not quite sure just how ironic the hype is but I, personally, really enjoyed it. It's incredibly basic pop, there isn't a lyric across the whole EP that means anything of substance but it's produced really well and she sounds pretty good. This is catchy, fun and a joy to listen to and, at the end of the day, isn't that what pop music is all about?

The kings of the punchline celebrated their return to being independent artists with this 'Abra Cadabra' assisted banger. It's Krept that wins best verse with every line making an impact (the Katie Hopkins bar, the Zoom bar and the Jadon Sancho bars being the picks of the bunch). The remix (with one the most eclectic set of artists assembled yet) is certainly a thing that exists but I'll stick with the original. Listening to it now, I wish I ranked this higher, it hasn't got old for me at all. Abra's performing magic on that hook.

2023 was year to remember for Halle Bailey. She starred as Ariel in the live-action remake of 'The Little Mermaid' and she released her debut solo song. While she has landed under her sister here, I do think that this is a more interesting track that any of Chloe's. Chloe's releases are just solid R&B tracks while 'Angel' adapts gospel influencers to make an interesting ballad with an empowering message that sounds nothing like what else is popular at the moment. Good luck to this one at the Grammys! Both sisters have now got solo hits in my chart to their name but their best work remains to be what they make together. I do hope they reunite soon after Halle releases her own album

2021 80 Obsessed With You

2022 83 Overseas (D-Block Europe feat. Central Cee)

2023 88 Trojan Horse (Dave & Central Cee)

With this being the 3rd time that Dave has landed at #88 (with an #86 and an #87 also to boot) and with all of Central Cee's hits landing in the 80s region, this pair are consistent with their releases  Three quarters of the duo's collaborative EP 'Split Decision' has made my top 100 with 'Trojan Horse' being the first to appear. There's great chemistry from Dave & Cench but Dave ends up stealing the whole track with the final verse and especially how he opens it up with the scheme that combines DC and Poker. Central Cee does still get in a few nice bars though, with his highlight being the play on the two Daves (Santan and Chappelle).

Chlöe lost a lot of goodwill in February by releasing this track alongside Chris Brown. My preference definitely would have been that she got somebody else on the track but I was still willing to give it a go and was impressed. Despite his despicable personality, you cannot deny Chris Brown's talent and aside from some dodgy pronunciations ('Foojays'), he does fit in well on this track. It feels a bit like a throwback to the big collaborative R&B duets that used to be much more regular. My preference from Chlöe is the upbeat party records but this is the strongest of her slower efforts. It sees Brown reappear in my EOY charts for the first time in 5 years while Chlöe has one more to come.
