It was the post-Christmas chart where Ellie's Amazon song peaked at #1 so maybe Sam might have a chance then. But Ellie may have been helped out by the fact her song was not really explicitly a Christmas song (which Sam's is).

Wasn't 'River' no. 1 on Amazon that week and although.Mariah/Wham.were obviously big streamers, back then Christmas playlist wasn't so gargantuan?

I think Sam could easily have a no.1 mind, if Alexa move it up their pecking order. Maybe they will next week?

From what I mostly worked out Wham had around 2.5 million more streams this week than last week.
Maybe Sam could have a chance next week if he keeps pushing but he’s going to have a scary sale to beat. One thing to bear in mind is that Wham! have always been very strong on Christmas Eve / Christmas Day relative to other Christmas songs, so they’ll probably pull away even further from the rest of the classics. Last year they did 80k chart sales after application of ACR with the tracking week starting on the 23rd, so this year they could be close to 6 figures which does sound like a bit of a mountain for Sam.
