Even if Sam doesn't get #1, at least he hasn't used his platform to bash other people (Creator Universe) or beg all week (LadBaby). He’s having a good time with his friends, meeting new people, and sharing his song.

Just curious, do you think The Pogues would be Christmas Number 1 had Shane MacGowan died on the 14th - the last possible day before the tracking week? I think it would have been close at best.

 

I’ve always found people including bookmakers overestimate this song. I don’t think it’s very popular with quite a few demographics like some other songs. I personally like it but it seems more niche and for people of a certain age it isn’t that popular with under 30’s in my opinion

He's done it with a nice positive attitude though. He's done 26 shows around the country in 6 days. I'm rooting for him even if the odds are long!

 

He's saying they're 5,000 behind, I'm guessing that will be on today's update. (I know, missing data blah blah)

I find it strange that they are campaigning this week and not next when he wouldn't need as big of a push outside Alexa.

 

A Christmas #1 is more special though isn't it. I like his you only live once attitude. He's seen he's in with a shot of getting a Christmas #1 and decided why not go all out to try get it? And even if he doesn't, he's had some good press about it and it's something to tell the grandkids innit?

He seems to think he's going to find out whilst he's on Zoe Ball's show tomorrow morning. I wonder if he's going to accidentally break the embargo haha. Don't think the figures come in till later in the morning though.

I think the fact he's not going to be number 1, number 2 or 3 won't make a huge difference to him.

Interesting to see how it will go next week for him.

My local Asda store has started to sell again a limited range of CDs. For example, CDs by Take That, Cher, Madness, Daniel O'Donnell, Cliff, Beatles Red and Blue albums.

I wonder whether Tesco and Sainsbury will follow selling CDs in the new year. This could affect the charts somewhat if more physicals are purchased.
