January 8, 20241 yr What an amazing playlist. Great work, Wardy. Solid gold compilation. There can't be many compilations in the world with Frank Zappa and Girls Aloud separated by just two other songs. Yeah really nice job with this Andrew, it's certainly fitting of the name and one I've happily added to my collection. That's a great collection of songs, thanks for putting it together. The NOW team WISHES they could make some something as good as that! Thanks for the all the positive feedback, remember to follow the playlists on Spotify too! ;) This was a very enjoyable collection to put together and I thank Colm and Rich for their valued input in finalising it! ^_^ Stay tuned for further releases to come…
January 8, 20241 yr Ahhhhh so now we see what your 'project' was Wardy! Good set of playlists there, covering loads of different styles, eras and genres. Looks good.
January 8, 20241 yr I don't like the idea to include group songs (especially Girls Aloud and Boyzone), where other members are still alive. My choice for Sarah's tribute is "Wear It Like A Crown" or "Threads". Edited January 8, 20241 yr by Last Dreamer
January 8, 20241 yr I don't want to judge such type of compilation, but for me "Lost Legends" is mostly about tragic deaths in young age like Kirsty, John Lennon or Sarah (if she is not a legendary singer).
January 8, 20241 yr I don't like the idea to include group songs (especially Girls Aloud and Boyzone), where other members are still alive. My choice for Sarah's tribute is "Wear It Like A Crown" or "Threads". I take your point and we discussed this at length - obviously all opinions are welcome but we saw it like this: Sarah’s musical legacy won’t be remembered by many for those solo singles but in her absolutely mesmerising performance in The Promise, a big No.1 hit for Girls Aloud where many people would agree she gave the standout performance on the track. Likewise Stephen on No Matter What. They were not randomly selected band tracks, but tracks the member in question had a major impact on their sound and success. I don’t think including the likes of Threads and New Beginning, or Left Eye’s solo single The Block Party, would have improved this compilation much. Plus we wanted to include influential lead singers who were lost - especially those tragically young, like Kurt Cobain, Marc Bolan etc. Edited January 8, 20241 yr by gooddelta
January 8, 20241 yr Maybe I will do more obscure and personal compilation with 20 (or maybe 40) tracks.
January 10, 20241 yr Lots of great songs here! I think with Boyzone making the cut, I would have liked to see S Club 7 - Reach and The Wanted - Gold Forever be included to further represent big British groups who’ve had members sadly pass away, while making that last CD more pop!

Thanks Jay, I can assure you that Gold Forever and Never Had A Dream Come True we’re on the shortlist, but we sadly had to remove them to make space.
January 15, 20241 yr Next up, in the coming days, we have... Feel free to predict the opening tracks of each of the four discs. Here's a first look of one track from each disc to get you started: Disc 1: 9. Madonna - Beautiful Stranger Disc 2: 12. Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor Disc 3: 17. Placebo - Every You Every Me Disc 4: 5. Ann Lee - 2 Times
January 15, 20241 yr 1999 was such an incredible year for music! I know it’s been really hard to narrow down the multitude of song choices, but we look forward to bringing you the full tracklisting soon! B-)
January 15, 20241 yr Author I love that Placebo track. In the first 6 months of 1999 my three favourite tracks had similar titles Every You, Every Me Right Here, Right Now Hey Boy, Hey Girl
January 16, 20241 yr Very good guess, we shall see if it's right! Clearly, to fit everything in that we wanted to and give a fair representation of a very diverse musical year packed with modern classics, we have had to exclude some UK No.1s. In fact, 10 are absent, partly due to artists having multiple chart toppers/memorable singles that year, and others through intentional choice to leave them out. But Baby One More Time I can confirm is on the album (how could it not be).
January 16, 20241 yr I can see Believe, If You Had My Love, Sikidim, No scrubs, Pretty Fly (for a White Guy), Blue (Da Ba Dee), Smooth, If I could turn back the hands of time, Kiss Me, Heartbreaker, You get what you give ... So many.
January 16, 20241 yr This is a UK leaning compilation in terms of release dates, so Believe was 1998 here and Smooth was 2000. You've got many of your guesses spot on there though. Must admit, I've never heard of Sikidim! Just looked it up and see it was a European hit that year for Tarkan.
January 16, 20241 yr Disc 4 is gonna be so good, I can feel it! 1999 was so good for EuroPopDance. I imagine Disc 4 will start with Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! by the Vengaboys or Better Off Alone by Alice DeeJay
January 16, 20241 yr Maybe you mixed up Tarkan's songs. "Simarik" (well-known after Holly Valance's cover version "Kiss Kiss") was more successful in European charts.
January 16, 20241 yr Disc 4 is gonna be so good, I can feel it! 1999 was so good for EuroPopDance. I imagine Disc 4 will start with Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! by the Vengaboys or Better Off Alone by Alice DeeJay They are certainly both around that general area towards the top of the fourth disc :D
