The 2006 track list is fantastic :cheeseblock: I turned 18 that year so a lot of good memories (and a few not so good ones) are sparked by these tracks.

It's interesting how Beep was quite a bit bigger than Buttons at the time (in the UK), yet 18 years on, Beep is stuck on Silver while Buttons has zoomed its way up to Platinum! But at the time...

31 The Pussycat Dolls - Beep - 157,000

57 The Pussycat Dolls - Buttons - 117,250

Yeah I feel like Buttons aged far better than Beep, which seemed a bit of a novelty.

Buttons is fine but I love Beep - the strings

I thought Beep was really clever lyrically. Basically leaving the whole lyric to the listener's imagination.

I now know Buttons is more popular these days but honestly didn't realise that while doing the research for this album, which strikes a balance between hits that were popular at the time and songs that have become more popular over time from that year.

Another Tongue is a real goodie from Wardy, another one I'm amazed Now have never had the thought to put together.

Just been listening to Another Tongue today and it's class.

I do hope others can enjoy it too! And thanks to Colm's graphics, here is the completed product;

I wanted to try and capture as many different non-English hits in the UK as possible, including songs that were well known at the time. A wide range of Summer grooves, Eurovision artists and vintage record have been collected together and are brought to you today in this enjoyable product. Hopefully we haven't missed anything major, and a variety of collaborators helped to make this edition possible, so I thank all of you for your input into this one! ^_^

Possibly it's my least favourite Buzzjack compilation so far.

Two OK Eurovision songs on French from CD4.

Liene Candy's cover version of O-Zone hit was # 1 in my chart for 3 weeks.

Also I love LaFee tribute to Falco (Rock Me Amadeus).

Good compilation, will make sure I listen to it over the next few days.

The ubiquitous UK adverts using the Plastic Bertrand song in recent years have earnt it a Track 1 Disc 4 placing wow!

Thought Europapa would have made one of the discs but I guess its too recent, also same with Pedro by Jaxomy

do you like the original?

Yes the album was put together in the main by Wardy some months ago, so before Europapa and Pedro. Some other Eurovision songs were also left off anyway so that the album wasn't completely dominated by them.

Nothing from Mylene Farmer or she is unknown in UK ?

Mylene Farmer isn't really known in the UK, certainly she's had no hits of any kind here.

I think this is one of my favourite albums because it's a theme I'm surprised Now haven't tackled before, perhaps they feel it wouldn't sell very well as many of the hits were quite fleeting and forgotten. But I like having these all in one place.

Your Schlager compilation was perfect for representing non-English language songs. The last one wasn't.

I can try to compile unkown/non-mainstream compilations for many countries from continental Europe. All three Baltic sisters  , Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, maybe also Switzerland, Belgium and Poland (for a hard challenge).

Africa, Asia and Oceania found rotting in the corner

It's a great selection, I'll try and listen eventually as quite a few I don't recognise.

? There are several African and Asian artists on there. I suppose Yothu Yindi's Treaty could've been included, but it wasn't a hit in the UK so understandable x

Remember this is the UK, we're pretty xenophobic when it comes to chart hits and the ones that break through are historically more likely to be our closest neighbours.

Oh I was replying to Last Dreamer's suggestion of another compilation :kink:

Oceania is easy for compiling (Australia, New Zealand)

For Africa I can use a trick with only South African schlager. :P

On schlager I made no attempt to keep to UK hits though, as there are barely any.

Another Tongue made UK hits its primary focus. I'm sure there's scope for another collection of popular songs in other languages that weren't hits in the UK.

That's why I love it.

For me yearly compilations based only on UK chart peak position / popularity are super boring and non-interesting. Even personal yearly compilations are more interesting, because the creator of it can push his/her favourite UK flops in the list instead hated big hits.

For personal compilations I had the idea for separating one year on two parts. The first one is for more popular songs, the second is like a personal recommendation to listen my low-known favourites.

Someting like "1999 Hits" and "1999 Hidden Treasures".
