Not sure!

Im doubtful tho. Imagine the abuse from certain „fans“ if she did re-record

It will be no different than “fans” kicking off in 2006 when it was reported Heidi had redone Overload to get rid of Siobhan’s vocal.

If it was wrong then, why isn’t it wrong now?

I mean it's very clear that the objective of this is not replacing anything or anyone. For starters the remix is very different to the original, and if they plan on using it on socials or performances it would be weirder if it featured other than the current lineup. It's simply a new take on the song, but not a replacement.

Island and Crown did actually seek to replace Mutya's and Keisha's vocals in the past, and that's normal business for most girlbands (without the nasty gesture of dubbing Get Sexy "DO NOT USE" on digital platforms for years) so nobody should be surprised. But as I say, this is a very different case.

Keisha and Mutya did write the song, so really they can do whatever the hell they want. This is also just a remix and not replacing the original. Some people are so precious about Heidi FFS and always need to B1tch about something.
I felt the same when the re-record of tracks was discussed back in 2006 and would have removed Siobhan and Mutya’s vocals from their songs for Overloaded so it’s nothing to do with Heidi specifically.

From the clip posted to the sugababes instagram broadcast channel, it sounds like it might have new vocals
It’s new vocals with Mutya verse 1, Siobhan verse 2, and Keisha doing all pre-chorus and chorus.

They did this live with Joy Anonymous at one of their shows a while back so I'm glad it's been released

I’m really enjoying this. Different enough to the original for me. Siobhan also sounds great on this.

So happy the girls gave us this.

This has got to #138 on iTunes in Australia. Which obviously means very little but I think is quite good, considering the influx of Christmas songs in the top 200.

Im really quite into this mix and given how vocally opposed I was in 2006 to the prospect of a re-record of the stuff for overloaded, I’m really actually surprisingly ok with this. Maybe coz it’s a bootleg mix rather than a straight up redo that makes it feel a bit different.

Or maybe it’s just coz the original is 18 years old and not 18 months old that makes it feel a bit different

What a very well written post, I couldn't have said it better myself.

The main difference for me is that this isn't just re-recorded vocals over an identical instrumental.

This wasn't made to erase the original version, more so an updated remix of the original.

Agree also, the fact it's 18 years and not 18 months is also huge as well.

Wasn't expecting to care much for this but I really love its vibe!! The re-recorded vocals sound great too, so nice to have a Siobhan version of Push the Button while not replacing the original.

I unfortunately do not like this, I think mainly because of its remix.

Nothing will top the original version.
