The first of two appearances for Chappell Roan here and she's someone who I first listened to in January 2018 , 'bad for you' and 'Good Love' were decent but not quite what was going to set her off into another dimension really and she was discovered by... Troye Sivan as well. 'Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl' is a catchy song from her and it's 83 here for the year!

It's Taylor... :hi: 'Now That We Don't Talk' is the first of 6 Taylor songs to appear and it comes from the Vault 1989 Taylor's Version. She keeps serving!

last one for tonight and it comes from Miss Ava Max with 'Dancing's Done', an absolute tune which came out a week or so before the end of 2022 but holds up in nice regard to be my 81st fave of 2023 ^_^

Dancing's Done is brilliant, Ava really has nailed that slightly dark pop sound! I think it's a shame she didn't have a bigger era because there's so many great pop gems on the album.

At 80 sees the nineties/early noughties alternative rock band Ash with their release 'Race The Night'. In 2017 I saw Ash play in Brighton and 'Shining Light' went down a storm and it was a great experience however generally over the years I haven't really seeked out anything they've released since like 2002/03 lmao so this was a great surprise and I stumbled across it after seeing uhsting listening to it on Spotify :kink: great track anyhow!

Dylan had a very good 2022 in my End of year with several songs making my top 100 and even within the top 50. She doesn't quite manage the same this year with her only appearance this year coming in at 79 with a helping hand from Bastille on 'Liar Liar'!

Up pops another BJSC next from Swedish singer Molly Sandén who has actually appeared in one of these before 'Husavik' (My Hometown)' a few years ago which also featured actor Will Ferell. 'Vi ska aldrig gå hem' (in English translation - We will never go home) is 78 and is a fiesty pop track which I awarded 11 points to in the BJSC 159 Final!.

77 sees a second album track from P!nk with 'Turbulence', yet again in the best half of the album!

She really has. It is a shame but I guess with Ava there's only so much the public will latch onto with her sadly regardless of if it's fab or not oops. Must check the album though!

Two fantastic BJSC entries in one here with Fljovatik's winner 'Aria' which is a epic techno record with nice orchestra vocals looped in and then 'Thunder Rumbles' which is just a bouncy fun track itself!

Was a little late on getting round to 'Only In My Mind' but boy what a great tune it is. Kenya Grace to not remain a one hit wonder as her voice and music is lush minus 'Paris' which didn't grab me quite as much.

Latto was back with another bop and it's one I think I actually prefer to 'Big Energy' in 'Lottery'. Such a groovy disco bop and features LA KALA on collab.

'Dancing's Done' is my favourite from Ava's album, maybe it could have been a minor hit for her if not released so close to Christmas, and 'Race The Night' was an unexpected return from Ash, like they'd just picked up from where they were in the early 2000s! 'Perfect' was a surprise hit for me too from The Veronicas, it thrashes more than I'd expected!

She should have got a minor smash for sure. I guess they only want dance collabs from her atm though.

Yeah Ash still keeping their stamp on things this far in!

Glad you like 'Perfect' too. I've really grown into quite the fan of Veronicas in the past 10 years.

Thanks Jim

Back with another Taylor appearance and it's her recent UK #1 'Is It Over Now? which is still only, astonishingly her 3rd number one over here. BJSC brought us DJ Heartstrings 'It Ain't Over' courtesy of Kathaldazia. What a banger this one was :music:

Ojnoj provided this pop bop to BJSC last year and was one of the standout pop tracks across the year from Josie Man and 'Unbreak Your Heart'. You thought you might've seen Sam Ryder crop up only once but think twice as 'Put A Light On Me' which I can't remember whether it was officially an single or not or just a playlist spotlight on Radio 2 at the start of the year. Either way it's a great song and does sound a bit like 'Lay It All On Me' by Ed Sheeran and Rudimental. If you listen to both songs you'll see what I mean!

At 66 we see one of the recent #1's in my chart and her first ever in fact.. Paloma Faith with her powerful ballad 'Bad Woman' which also is helped by flawless backing vocals too. Kylie turns up with her first showing here in the form of 'Tension' at 65. It's one I did like but found a little overrated as well which would explain why it didn't initially hang about chart run wise in the top part of my chart but after re-listening to it as part of the Spotify your year it stood out again and in a very good way. She's still got two songs to come!
