New schedule:

Quali 7.30am local, 10.30am UK

Race 12 30pm local, 3.30pm UK

If Quali doesn't go ahead there's an interesting situation around how the grid would be set for the race.

There's nothing in the rules to stipulate a definite course of action and this is particularly interesting for a Sprint weekend.

Under existing precedent when qualifying hasn't taken place the results of first practice would decide the grid. This would be significant because firstly there's ramifications for the title fight and also because the times set are not representative of what is possible under qualifying conditions. For example Verstappen abandon his faster runs because there was no reason to believe they'd matter. He was 15th in FP1 and his grid drop would then start him last. Which would obviously be contentious.

They could also opt for the times set during Sprint qualifying, surely the most likely scenario, putting Piastri on pole and Verstappen 9th on the grid

Lando has a great chance to close the lead now hopefully he wins the race and Max gets no higher than 7th
A record broken with five red flags in qualifying??

I think it happened in Baku as well a few years ago.

that was insane, will they be fast enough to repair all those cars?

Williams have withdrawn Albon from the race after running out of time to repair his car. They say Colapinto will race.

Formula 2 championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto looks set to race for Sauber next year, with sources revealing that a deal to join the Swiss outfit has now been agreed.

The 20-year-old had been a front-runner to become Nico Hulkenberg’s team-mate for 2025, but Sauber wanted to take its time weighing up whether to go for the youngster or stick with an experienced driver like incumbent Valtteri Bottas.

Absolute madlad from Max! He's clearly silencing everyone today.
