Luke Littler won his third night of the Premier League season with a comfortable 6-2 win over Rob Cross in Liverpool.

Littler has become a fan favourite across the UK, but with the 17-year-old a fan of Manchester United he was roundly booed by the 8,500-capacity crowd.

He played up to it though, often cupping his hands to his ears, and signalling 2-0 to the crowd ahead of his quarter-final in response to Liverpool's defeat at Everton on Wednesday.

Littler, who beat Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall to reach the final, raced into a five-leg lead in the final before seeing out the win after a brief Cross fightback.

Professional darts player Adam Smith-Neale has been banned for eight months after accepting a charge that he assaulted an opponent.

The 30-year-old from Nuneaton, ranked number 88 in the world, is now not allowed to play or be involved in any capacity in any Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) sanctioned event until 12 November.

The ban has been backdated to start from 12 March, from when he was initially suspended by the DRA.

The incident occurred on 9 March when Smith-Neale lost a match at an amateur event, the Nuneaton Darts Open at the Lucky Break Sports & Pool Bar in Nuneaton.

Former world youth darts champion Leighton Bennett has been suspended after suspicious betting patterns were reported in four of his matches.

The teenager has been suspended along with Billy Warriner for alleged breaches of Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) rules.

As a result of this decision, Bennett and Warriner have been suspended from attending or competing in DRA governed events until the conclusion of the hearing or hearings and the determination of this matter.

Both players have the right to appeal the suspension decision.

Bennett, 18, became the youngest ever BDO youth champion when he won the competition at the age of 13 in 2019. He beat darts legend Phil Taylor the same year.

He won a card on the professional PDC Tour earlier this year and vowed to rival world championship runner-up Luke Littler.

Mike de Decker caused a huge upset as he beat defending champion Luke Humphries 6-4 to win the World Grand Prix title.

The Belgian, a 200-1 outsider before the tournament, withstood a fightback from the world number one to triumph in his first major final.

Englishman Humphries was seeking his fifth televised ranking tournament since his first major victory, on this stage in Leicester a year ago.

But De Decker, 28, surged into a 4-1 lead and kept his cool after world champion Humphries levelled to clinch the £120,000 first prize.

So guess that'll mean every player plays a maximum of 7 matches all the way from round 1 to the final, rather than top seeds getting a bye straight into round 2.

PDC Tour Card holder Dom Taylor has been suspended from professional darts with immediate effect after failing a drugs test.

Taylor, 26, was tested during a recent Players Championship event and returned a positive sample for a banned substance.

The Darts Regulation Authority have subsequently suspended Taylor with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing on a date to be confirmed.

Taylor has been withdrawn from this weekend’s Players Championship Finals and will be replaced in the draw by Nick Kenny – who will now face Michael Smith in Round One in Minehead on Friday evening.

The Darts Regulation Authority has banned Leighton Bennett for eight years and Billy Warriner for 10 years for charges which included match-fixing.

The punishment follows the DRA conducting an investigation after the International Betting Integrity Association reported suspicious betting on four matches involving Bennett in the Modus Super Series in 2023.

The DRA decided "both players had a case to answer for serious breaches" of its rules and, having been suspended in August, Bennett and Warriner were found guilty at a hearing in November.

"Bennett was found guilty of 10 charges for fixing the four matches, provided inside information on the matches, of failing to assist an investigation and for signing a contract with an unregistered agent," said a DRA statement.

"Warriner admitted 19 of 21 charges for being concerned in fixing the four matches, providing inside information and organising betting on the matches, four counts of failing to assist the investigation, two counts of acting as an unregistered agent and betting on darts.

"In addition, he pleaded guilty to an unrelated incident at a darts event where he was abusive to an official and threatened his opponent."

Bennett and Warriner, who have also been ordered to pay £8,100 each in costs, have until 14 December to appeal.
