Jay never said they couldn't do it but that they wouldn't be likely to be asked to do it and may face a more negative reaction as a headliner than in the legends slot.

If Kylie wasn't asked to headline and was put in the legends slot despite having continually released for 40 years, had #1 albums and top 10 singles in 4 consecutive decades, had more hits and sold more records... then Spice Girls are hardly going to be asked to headline with their 11 singles, 3 albums, and sporadic intervals of being an active group... in reality they haven't been a proper active group since 1998 as Forever was a few week job and the two tours being literally a few months. Flogging merch and doing adverts isn't something Glastonbury would be interested in.

It's all a moot point anyway because it is clearly never going to happen, they can't get their acts together to do something that would only make them even more legendary and make them all more money in terms of streams, a potential GH re-release, merch, profiles for solo ventures etc etc etc. Think about it Melanie C and Emma could release more music, they would be invited on all chat shows across the world, Victoria could do a 'Glastonbury' special t-shirt or tote bag and so on...

Kylie has never to my knowledge played stadiums in the UK, the Spice Girls did a 13 date stadium tour with a member down.

Kylie also never stops performing so it isn't a OMG Kylie she hasn't performed in 13 years like it would be with a Spice Girls featuring Victoria.

You are right though I doubt their egos will let it happen.

At least we can agree on something.

While you're right about Kylie not playing stadiums she would certainly appeal more to the casual Glastonbury fan than Spice Girls would. They have more hardcore fans for sure, but Kylie has a broader catalogue for a wider casual appeal. Glastonbury is not for the hardcore fans, the tickets go on sale before the announcement anyway so the liklihood is tons won't have them.

I think you have that the wrong way round. Kylie has the rabid hardcore fans who buy everything multiple times. As for the Spice Girls they are the ultimate casual GP fan band. You don't sell 700k concert tickets unless you can tap into a mass of casual fans who just want to see them in real life and relive their childhood.

All those drunk women at SW19 aren't hanging on to any news or merch or buying Spiceworld25, but they will be there the moment they step on stage.

Yeah I think this is very right. Spice Girls headlining would be A STORY that people would latch on to and go just because of them. Kylie is amazing dont get me wrong. But she is not on the level of the Spice Girls when it comes to this.

But yes, we all agree that their own egos would stop them from doing it, sadly... That's the real story of the Spice Girls: killed by egos since 1998...

It is also why we have had 489,109 different t-shirts because those casual fans who are mainly women will drop £20 on a t-shirt to wear at Claire's hen party or at a bottomless brunch for Sandra's birthday.

And gay men... the amount of gay men I know whom I never thought were particularly 'fans' but have at least a tshirt they wear out... it's wild and you can see why there are so many available <_< they sell....

Spice Girls missed an opportunity not releasing a Live album of the last tour.

They easily could have achieved another Top 5 album and extending their discography.

^ a live album lol

The one in 1998 never materialised.

They didn't even film the 2007 tour which received negativity and did it again in 2019 !!

If they had released one in 1998 they probably would have had another #1 album to their name and it wouldn’t have cost them any effort the stadium dates themselves would have been plenty of promo for it at their peak, combined with a single release with your footage of NGUOTGT they would have been laughing all the way to the bank!

This for me was the biggest missed opportunity at the time. It would have been amazing and solidified them 4-piece

I was sure they would release a live album and its odd that they didnt, like you say it would have cost them nothing.

Live albums doens't do shit lol

They actually do a lot for helping the artist establish themselves as a live act, and it is a thing of artistic merit to release one.

So what if it doesnt set the charts on fire? It is about the body of work and would be most helpful.

ONE THING that I just thought about this is that if they had released one back in 1998, they certainly would have had to do much more than their main hits and the odd album track from Spice or Spiceworld in any consequent tours.

As a nostalgia act now, it certainly doesnt bode well for them to release one if they ever intend to do any more nostalgia driven tours... Otherwise, they would have to seriously re-think their set lists or release more music so that they provide something different to their standard of doing live shows without new music :arrr:

They really put themselves into a corner with this nostalgia crap hey?....

Apart from the 5 of them getting together for Victoria's birthday, this year has felt really meh to me, as a Spice Girls fan. Not just regarding the group (which honestly for a while now I've accepted as being firmly on ice) but as individuals too. I hardly ever check what they're up to anymore. :(

I feel the same Jay... The year started so promising, only to be all left to rot instead...
I'm only looking forward to the Forever 25th and hear W.O.M.A.N. (demo) finally and then thats it for me. I'm glad I went to their 2019 stadium tour. If they ever tour again, then I will be there. But I think I'll check out again (like in 2013-2018) until they really reunite. At least, this reunion, they rectified a few things and tidied up their legacy (their online presence, their catalogue, remastered their old videos).
