Posted January 24, 20241 yr Iceland 2024 Hera Björk Scared of Heights i0zn27qa1BA Palestinian artist Bashar Murad is rumoured to be competing. This is why the odds have shortened very quickly. :o Full lineup will be announced on 27 January.
January 24, 20241 yr Quite possible if he wins then that Iceland just won't compete? Based on the discussion I've seen around Iceland uncoupling Söngvakeppnin from Eurovision, meaning that the winner of Söngvakeppnin is not automatically the Eurovision entrant. Depends on the song though and Bashar's personal reasons for entering. Does seem like he would be a heavy favourite to win the NF if in.

January 26, 20241 yr Interesting how Ukraine are 2nd faves when their mass vote declined quite a bit last year
January 26, 20241 yr If Teresa & Maria wins Vidibir (which I’m fairly sure it will), that will likely do a lot better than Heart Of Steel did last year so I can see why they have such good odds.
January 26, 20241 yr Bashar Murad's collab with Hatari 'Klefi/Samed' (their first release after being in Eurovision) is a banger btw. I guess there's a good chance he won't go to Eurovision if he wins this though.
January 27, 20241 yr Author The songs are out! Semi-Final 1 (17 February) ANITA - Stingum af / Downfall Blankiflúr - Sjá þig / Love You CeaseTone - Ró / Flow Sunny - Fiðrildi VÆB - Bíómynd / Movie Scene Semi-Final 2 (24 February) Bashar Murad - Vestrið villt / Wild West Heiðrún Anna - Þjakaður af ást Hera Björk - Við förum hærra / Scared of Heights MAIAA - Fljúga burt Sigga Ózk - Um allan alheiminn / Into the Atmosphere
January 28, 20241 yr Musically, Wild West definitely does not sound like anything approaching a winner. Many have argued that Stefania was maybe boosted to the win by “support voting” where it might have come at least 4th/5th anyway on musical merit, but I don’t think Wild West would have such a strong base to start from, as it doesn’t sound massively competitive in its own right. Maybe the odds for Iceland will calm down now. Nice to see Hera Björk back! It’s like a Eurodance Sorry Not Sorry in parts. Edited January 28, 20241 yr by gooddelta
February 4, 20241 yr Author My rating: 1. Fljúga burt (9/10) 2. Love You (9/10) 3. Ró (7/10) 4. Um allan alheiminn (7/10) 5. Fiðrildi (6/10) 6. Downfall (6/10) (why does this sound like More Than You Know? ) 7. Wild West (6/10) 8. Scared of Heights (6/10) (this sounds like a Becky Hill track in a bad way  ) 9. Þjakaður af ást (5/10) 10. Movie Scene (3/10) Top 5: 7.6/10 Overall: 6.4/10 Note: The better version is indicated in this ranking. This year is definitely better than the last for sure. Wild West does not sound like it would sweep the contest at all.
February 19, 20241 yr Author Livid that Blankiflur didn't qualify  Hope she qualifies as wildcard! The staging concept is saur cool!! The vocals though are quite shaky.
February 24, 20241 yr Author Not my top 3 completely out plus my 5th too :kink: that was total bollocks
March 2, 20241 yr I just tuned in on söngvakeppnin, I think there's a final voting between Hera Björk and Bashar Murad now.
March 2, 20241 yr Author How the Icelandic public were capable of making the worst decisions in the entirety of NF impressed me ddd :kink:
March 3, 20241 yr Absolutely delighted Hera won. Well done Iceland. Wouldn’t want all the political rubbish that went along with Bashar
March 3, 20241 yr I see Iceland are one of the early bookies faves but I really can't see this been any higher than low top 10 at the very best.
